General Information:
- Candidates desiring to appear for walk-in-interview should report at Administration Building for registration between 09.00 A.M. and 10.00 A.M.
- Interested and eligible candidates are invited with all original certificate and a copy of CV (5 sets).Superannuated teachers may also be considered for engagement as Guest Faculty subject to a maximum age limit of 70 years.
- A Master degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the University Grants Commission (Minimum standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. degree) Regulations, 2009 of 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET. Further, the qualification for guest faculty shall be at par with the minimum qualification for Assistant Professors of Universities in UGC Regulations, 2018.
- All candidates who are required to undertake the physical fitness test shall be required to produce a medical certificate certifying that he/she is medically fit before undertaking such tests.
- Selected candidates shall be paid an Honorarium of Rs 1500/- per lecture subject to a maximum of Rs. 50,000 /- per month.
- The selected candidates shall be engaged on purely temporary basis for a period of one semester / six months. The services of Guest faculty will be terminated without notice if found unsatisfactory. Under any circumstances, candidate cannot claim any right for permanent position.
- The number of vacancies indicated in this notification is tentative. The University reserves the right to fill any consequential vacancies, and / or to increase/decrease the number of vacancies and make engagements accordingly.
- If more number of candidates turn up on the date of walk-in interview, candidates will be advised to appear for interview on another date which will be notified at the venue.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in interview.
- Incomplete applications will be rejected.
- Canvassing in any format or bringing of any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as disqualification on part of the candidate.

- The guest faculty shall not be given the benefit of allowances, pension, gratuity and leave etc. as admissible to the regular teachers.
- The selected candidates will be engaged on purely temporary basis for a period of one semester/six months, which may be extended for one more semester/six months, based on the performance/ requirement or terminated earlier with one month notice on either side, without assigning any reason. Under any circumstances, candidate cannot claim any right for permanent position.
- Candidates may note that these contract positions are basically to meet the immediate academic/administrative requirement of the University and at no point, selection in this walk-in-interview will not make them eligible for regular interviews to be conducted in future.
- Reservation will be made applicable as per UGC/GOI guidelines / norms.

- Central University of Tamil Nadu abbreviated CUTN was established by an Act of Parliament (No.25 of 20 March 2009).The University was inaugurated on 30 September 2009 by Kapil Sibal who laid the foundation stone. Prof. B.P.Sanjay, Former Director of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), and Professor in the Department of Mass Communication, University of Hyderabad was appointed as the first Vice Chancellor of the University. Presently CUTN is functioning in its permanent campus with an area of 740 acres. Dr. Aditya Prasad Dash, a distinguished scientist and academician is appointed as the second Vice Chancellor of the university.
- The university currently offers Integrated Masters programmes in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics,Life Sciences and Economics; Masters Programme in English, Tamil, Social Work, Media & Communication,Microbiology and Chemistry; PhD Programme in Physics, Chemistry, Tamil, English, Mathematics, Life Science and Economics. At Madras School of Economics M.Sc. programs in General Economics, Financial Economics, Acturial Economics, Applied Quantitative Economics and Environmental Economics is offered in collaboration with the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN).
- The main campus is spread over 500 acres in the two revenue villages of Neelakudi and Nagakudi of the Thiruvarur District and is on a fast track development.
- The Tamil Nadu government has embarked upon a road widening project that allows for a two way wide road for both the campuses linking both sides of the state highways to Mayiladuthurai-Chennai and Kumbakonam-Chennai. An elevated bridge connecting the two campuses has also been taken up, since the campus is split into two by the Highway.
- A Kendriya Vidyalaya was started in the Nagakudi Residential Campus in July 2013 and presently it has classes up to 10th Standard on yearly incremental basis up to class 12th.
- The campus has a BSNL Exchange with Mobile Tower and in the month of September 2015 a SBI ATM has started functioning in the Neelgudi Campus.
- Admission to various programmes of the CUTN is done through the CENTRAL UNIVERSITIES COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CUCET). Every year CUCET is being conducted by a consortium of newly formed Central Universities: Haryana, Jammu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kashmir, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, South Bihar and Tamil Nadu. The number of Universities participating in CUCET increases year by year. CUCET-2016 was conducted in 57 centers across the country for admission to various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Research and Integrated programmes. Over 65000 candidates have appeared for the Common Entrance Test conducted on 21 and 22 May 2016. It is proposed to conduct CUCET-2017 in about 75 centres.
