General Conditions:
- Applications are invited from eligible Ex-Servicemen for engagement in safety categories of Bridge Organisation, Track Machine Organisation and other similar technical safety categories of Southern Railway on full time contract basis. Applicant may submit online applications by login to www.rrcmas.in Applications complete in all respects should be submitted ONLINE ONLY before 17.00 hrs of 12.09.2019. Applications send by post will not be entertained. Applicants are requested to go through the details given below carefully before applying.
- The contract of Ex-Servicemen for Level 1 Posts are on full time basis and shall not be entitled for Railway Quarters and Privilege/Complimentary Passes etc.
- Duty Pass may be provided for stretch of the journey involved on duty. They may be entitled to II class ‘A’ duty pass.
- The contractual staff may be permitted weekly off and National Holidays.However, they may be called for duty on any day including National Holidays for which Compensatory Rest may be given later.
- These contract engagements are against clear vacancies of Direct Recruitment Quota for a maximum period of one year or availability of a
regularly selected candidate, whichever is earlier. Suitable break will be given between successive contracts (if any). - The contract may be terminated by either side by giving 15 days notice. The performance monitoring of contractual appointees will be done on regular basis and those who are unable to discharge the duties or who fail to perform as per expectations of the administration, may be given 15 days notice and their contract shall be terminated. However, when contract staff is found to be mentally or physically incapacitated and in case of gross negligence/ misconduct/ misbehavior/irregularities, the engagement contract may be terminated with immediate effect.
- The engagement on contract basis will not confer any right to claim for regular absorption / extension in the Railway.
- They may be paid Daily Allowance when on tour as admissible, at the rate of Rs.500/-.
- In case of absence for duty, proportionate amount of pay per day will be deducted. If full time contract Ex-Servicemen are on unauthorized absence beyond 3 days, their engagement will automatically be terminated.
- The SC/ST/OBC candidate should submit a self-attested copy of the community certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
- The Ex-servicemen selected for engagement will be imparted necessary training wherever applicable for a period which will be determined by the Administration before their actual deployment.
- Engagement will be on full time contract basis and the remuneration will be on monthly basis comprising of Basic Pay, DA, TA, HRA & Dress allowance of Rs.5000/- per annum wherever applicable.
- Service Personnel who are likely to be discharged from military service on or after the date of issue of this Notification are NOT eligible to apply against this notification.
- Ex-servicemen who apply against this Notification are further advised to visit www.rrcmas.in frequently to get the latest information on the dates of Document Verification and subsequent Medical Examination. Call Letter intimating date, time and venue of Document Verification will be available to download in the website www.rrcmas.in.
- Being contract engagement, no Pass or travel authority will be provided to any candidate, including SC/ST candidates. No intimation to the candidates will be sent through post. Vacancy Notice 2393 Trackman/ Helper ( Ex-Servicemen) Vacancy – Southern Railway,Tamil Nadu
- The Southern Railway (abbreviated SR), headquartered at Chennai, is one of the 18 zones of Indian Railways. It is the earliest of the 18 zones of the Indian Railways created in independent India. It was created on 14 April 1951 by merging three state railways, namely, the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway, the South Indian Railway Company, and the Mysore State Railway. The South Indian Railway was originally created in the British colonial times as Great Southern India Railway Co founded in Britain in 1853 and registered in 1859. Its original headquarters was in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) and was registered as a company in London only in 1890. At present, after re-organization of existing railway zones and creation of new zones undertaken by the Indian Railways between 2002–03, Southern Railway has emerged as the 2nd largest zone after undertaking some gauge conversion projects and creation of new lines.
- In 1944, all Railway companies were taken over by the Government. And three years later, when India woke up to independence in 1947, the stage was set for the integration of different Railways into smaller zones. In 1948, immediately after independence, there were as many as 42 different railway systems – a multiplicity of railway administrations, varying in size and standards.
- The regrouping proposals put forward by the various committees were studied in great detail to ensure that a unification could be achieved with the least disturbance and dislocation. Important associations of railway-users, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the State Governments and acknowledged experts both in India and abroad were fully consulted.
- Shri N. Gopalaswami Ayyangar – the then Minister for Railways, was the principal architect of the regrouping of Indian Railways. In December 1950, the Central Advisory Committee for Railways approved the plan for Indian Railways into six Zonal systems, namely, the Northern, the North-Eastern, the Southern, the Central, the Eastern and the Western.
- The Southern Railway zone 9,654 kilometres (5,999 mi) was the first zone to be formed.Created on 14 April 1951 by the merger of the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway, the South Indian Railway and the Mysore State Railway, the economic and geographical factors of this zone facilitated an early integrated network. This amalgamation was a major step towards streamlining and organizing the working pattern of the Railway system.
- Shri K R Ramanujam was appointed the first General Manager of the newly formed Southern Railways.
