General Instruction:
- The Institute will be conducting a walk in interview on 14th February 2020 (Friday) for the posts of Senior Resident Doctors (three years tenure) from 11:00 am onwards in the Conference Hall, NEIGRIHMS Guest House, Permanent Campus, Mawdiangdiana, Shillong-793018.
- Candidates from General Category will also be considered for adhoc appointment against vacant post of reserved category (marked asterisk*), if reserved category candidates would
not be available/suitable. (In respect of depai tinent of General Surgery only I post will be considered for adhoc appointment against OBC post). - Vacancy may increase or decrease. The numbers of vacant posts indicated above (including backlog vacancies) are provisional and subject to the change according to vacancies without any notice.
- Reservation for the above posts and age relaxation will be provided as per Govt. of India Norms. Age is relaxable upto 5 (five) years for SC/ST and 3(three) years for OBC (Non creamy layers) candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them. Age relaxation for physically handicapped candidates will be provided as per Govt. of India Norms.
- Reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) shall be applicable as per Govt.of India policy Office Memorandum No.36039/1/2019-Estt (Res) dated 19th January, 2019 and 31′ January, 2019:
EWSs Candidates will attach certificate issued by the competent authority in the farm prescribed as per Annexure-I. - If employed under the State or Central Govt. or PSII/Autonomous body, applicants are required to produce NOC from competent authority, failing which they will not be allowed to appear for interview under any circumstances.
- Candidate who have already worked in State or Central Govt. or PSU/Autonomous body and have resigned/left their jobs are required to produce the Relieving Order, failing which they will not be allowed to appear for interview under any circumstances.
- Canvassing in any form will disqualify candidate.
- Crucial date for determination of eligibility with regard to age, educational qualification and experience etc. will be the date; the candidates appear in the interview.
- Physically handicapped candidates are required to produce the physically handicapped certificate (with degree of disability) in original issued by the Competent Authority (i.e. Medical Board duly constituted by the Central Govt. or State Govt.) at the time of interview.
- For the post of Senior Resident Doctor, Candidates holding DNB qualifications would need to get their qualification verified by NBE as to whether it is as per the requirement of the Gazette notification No.MCI-12(2)/2010-Med.Misc dated 11.6.2012 and produce such verification certificate at the time of interview.
- Candidates who does not fulfill any one of the above conditions, will not be allowed to appear in the interview. They are to ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria before coming to appear the walk in interview on 14th February 2020.
- Candidates who have been sponsored by the Govt. of Meghalaya for MBBS/MD/MS programme are required to produce NOC from the Govt. of Meghalaya, failing which they will not be allowed to appear for interviews under any circumstances,
- Candidates who have been sponsored by the respective state governments for pursuing MBBS course and are required to undergo compulsory rural posting, if any. Such candidates will have to submit the certificate of completion of rural posting.
- Subject to availability, Resident Doctors will be provided accommodation in the RIM Hostel. In the event that no accommodation can be provided, HRA admissible as per rules will be paid.
- Candidates who had appeared for MD/MS/Diploma examination and awaiting results can also appear for the walk in interview. HoWever, in case they are selected, their selection is provisional, subject to production of MD/MS/Diploma passed certificate before joining the post.

- North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) is a medical institute of India in Shillong, Meghalaya. It is located on the outskirts of the educational hub hills City of the Northeastern India, Shillong, the “Scotland of the East”. The present full-fledged tertiary care hospital facilities started at its permanent campus at Mawdiangdiang, Shillong in the year 2007. It is an Autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India in 1987 and declared as “Centre of excellence” by the parliament of India. (1) The MBBS teaching programme of NEIGRIHMS started in 2008 with intake of 50 (fifty) students, followed by Post graduate courses in the following 4 subjects – Anaesthesiology, Microbiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Pathology in the year 2009.Further PG courses have been started in the following subjects – Anatomy, General Medicine, General Surgery and Radiodiagnosis and Imaging. The Institute also offers DM course in Cardiology. Besides, there is B. Sc Nursing and M. Sc Nursing courses (annual intake of 50 seats in B.Sc and 10 seats in M.Sc) being run by the Institute’s College of Nursing.The College of Nursing started its courses from the year 2006.
- The Institute was formally inaugurated and dedicated to the nation on 5 March 2010 by the chairperson of the UPA government, Smt Sonia Gandhi, the institute functioned from its present campus at Mawdiangdiang for some years before that.
- NEIGRIHMS is not only an educational institute that imparts postgraduate medical training and undergraduate medical training, but also a working hospital that provides inexpensive medical care to patients. The institute is established on the lines of AIIMS, Delhi and PGIMER Chandigarh, to provide tertiary care to the people of North-East India.
- The institute is named after (L) Smt.Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India.
- NEIGRIHMS offers services in specialties like General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, E.N.T., Pediatrics, Urology, CTVS, General Medicine, Blood Bank, Pathology, Biochemistry, etc.
- MD & MS Course started in initially in 4 disciplines affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) (A central University). The approval to start the Post Graduate course in NEIGRIHMS was conveyed by the Ministry vide Office Memorandum No-U-12012/7/2008-NE dated 19 May 2008. After inspection under the Chairmanship of Dr. A.K Agarwal, Add. Director General, DGHS, the Ministry vide letter No.U-12012/7/2008-NE (Pt) dated 19 March 2009 permitted to start Post Graduate Courses with two seats each in 4 (four) departments namely Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
