Generl Information:
- Applications are invited from eligible candidates for recruitment of Contractual Young Professional – II (One Post) and Technical Assistant (One Post) under CIBA – CPCL funded project No. 519 of this institute.
- The nature of job will be both field work (coastal and tribal villages in Thiruvallur and newly created Chengalpattu district (part of old Kancheepuram dt.) and office work at CIBA HQ.in Chennai. So the candidates selected should be prepared to work both in the field and in the office at CIBA, Chennai. Candidate knowing both Tamil language and English is preferred. Candidate having good proficiency in computers, browsing, statistical analyses are desirable. Candidates are requested to read the notification carefully before applying.
- The Candidates fulfilling the above criteria only may send their application in the prescribed proforma only along with biodata through e-mail to cvsairam@ciba.res.in positively on or before 10th February 2020. Applications received after the above said prescribed last date will not be entertained under any circumstances. Communication will be sent to the short-listed candidates only by email to attend the interview at CIBA, Chennai.
- The candidates who have received mail should appear for the interview with the filled-in application, original and photocopies of certificates along with passport size photograph. Director, CIBA reserves right to accept or reject any applications. CIBA does not enter into correspondence with the applicants for not calling them for interview. TA / DA will not be paid for attending the interview.
- Knowledge and Economic Empowerment of women, tribal and their families in coastal villages of Tamil Nadu through adoption of brackishwater aquaculture and allied technologies integrated with societal development programmes.
- Sociology or Social Work / M.Sc. Social Sciences / Agriculture / Fisheries Extension/ Home Science / Home – Extension / Fisheries /Aquaculture / Life Science / Zoology.
- Experiences in field farm survey, working with fishers/farmers, field investigations and proficiency in computers browsing and statistical analyses are desirable. Candidate knowing both Tamil language and English is preferred.
- Graduate in Science or Social studies / B.A. Sociology or Social Work / Agriculture / Fisheries Science & Extension/ Home Science & Home Science Extension/ Life Sciences/Aquaculture / Zoology.
- Experiences in field farm survey, working with fishers/farmers, field investigations and good proficiency in computers, browsing is desirable. Candidate knowing both Tamil language and English is preferred.
- Knowledge in fish farming / aquaculture and field work.
- Field work at coastal and tribal villages in Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram dt. and office work at CIBA HQ., Chennai.
- Maximum 35 years for men and 40 years for women as on date of interview. Age limits are relaxable for SC / ST / OBC candidates as per rules.

- Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA) is one of the research institutes under Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi to serve as the nodal agency for catering to the needs of the brackishwater aquaculture research in India.[1] The institute is headquartered at Santhome High Road, Raja Annamalai Puram, Chennai with a research centre at Kakdwip in West Bengal and an experimental field station at Muttukadu, roughly 30 km to the south of Chennai. The institute works under the Ministry of Agriculture, India.
- The Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture assists small aqua farmers in optimising their finfish and shrimp farming by providing suitable modern technologies. They also offer study courses and research facilities for students, farmers and entrepreneurs.CIBA regularly conducts farmers’ meet, trainings, exhibitions, workshops, and brainstorming sessions.
- conduct research for development of techno-economically viable and sustainable culture systems for finfish and shellfish in brackish water.
- act as a repository of information on brackish water fishery resources with a systematic database.
