General Instruction:
- Applications for the Direct Quota posts of Professors, Associate Professors, and Assistant Professors, in the Super Speciality Departments are invited on prescribed proforma by the Department of Medical Education and Research, Punjab under Punjab Medical Education (Group-A) Service Rules, 2016.
- As per Notification No. 2/24/2018-4HB3/510 dated 22.01.2020 (copy attached), the Central Pay Scales are applicable on these posts.
- Eligibility criteria i.e. Education qualifications and teaching experience etc. is as prescribed in the Punjab Medical Education (Group-A) Service Rules, 2016, available on the website www.puniabmedicaleducation.org
- The applications complete in all respects, shall be addressed to the Director, Research and Medical Education, Punjab, Medical Education Bhawan, 1st Floor, Sector -69, SAS Nagar, Mohali-160069. Last date of receipt of Applications is 2nd March, 2020 till 5.00 PM. Applications received after the closing date, due to any reason including the postal delay will be rejected. It will be the responsibility of the candidate concerned to submit the application well in time.
- Application Link /form is available on the website. Applicant will first fill the online form, after submission of the application the candidate will receive email of the filled form on the given e-mail ID. The candidate will take the print out and submit it along with the other required documents with the application form available on the website.
- The candidates should have the requisite qualifications and experience by the last date for the Receipt of Application.
- Age limit (minimum and maximum) calculated as on 1st January, 2020.
- The application should accompany with Bank Draft of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. One Thousand Only), in the name of the Director, Research & Medical Education, Punjab, payable at SAS Nagar.
- All communications to the applicants will be uploaded on official website only.
- Incomplete application will be rejected without any correspondence.
- In the event of the withdrawal of requisition by the Government or withholding of selection of candidates on account of any reason, the application fee paid to be the Government along with the application form shall not be returned/ refunded to the candidates.
- The application already submitted, if any, in response to earlier circulars / advertisement will not be considered. The applications are to be submitted afresh.
- In case the applicant is already serving in the Government/Private/Central Government institutions, the application should be sent to Director, Research and Medical Education, Punjab. The applicant should get NOC from the concerned authority before the interview.
- Candidates having less academics marks than minimum academic marks required are not eligible and will not be called for interview.
- 5% Relaxation will be applicable for SC candidates for academics and interview marks in above eligibility conditions.

- Apart from this a number of Medical/ Dental/ Ayurvedic / Homeopathic /Psychotherapy / Nursing Colleges and schools are being run by the various welfare societies and trusts in private sector with NOC of this department and all these are inspected and recognized/affiliated by Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, Central Council of Indian Medicine System and Indian Nursing Council as well as above noted universities and State Council.
- This was the first Medical College in Pepsu State with a population of over 20 lacs. The Rajendra Hospital, Patiala, was under construction when the college started. The foundation stone of the college building was laid by Dr. Rajendra Parshad then President of India on 21.12.1953. The opening ceremony of Rajendra Hospital, Patiala was performed by the Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, in 1954.
- It started as a 500 bedded hospital and presently it houses 1009 bedded in Rajendra Hospital Patiala and 121 bedded in T.B. Hospital, Patiala. The T.B. Hospital, Patiala has been designated as Zonal Task Force Centre of North India for involvement of Medical Colleges in RNTCP. The Hospital is also working as State T.B.Training and Demonstration Centre for the State of Punjab and U.T.
- Apart from Basic/Clinical departments some super specialty departments are also functioning. Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, ICCU are functioning in Medicine Deptt. and Urology, Pediatrics, Surgery, Plastic Surgery, I.C.U are also functional. Psychiatry Deptt. of this Institution has been upgraded. In addition to it De-addiction Centre, ART Centre /EDUSET, Telemedicine, I.T.Cell are also functional. The college has 4 hostels for UGs and one hostel for PGs. It has beautiful auditorium, vast play grounds, swimming pool, and gymnasium and college canteen. The college has a separate library building with in the campus housing IT Cell. There is an ME Cell too.
- Government Medical College Amritsar is one of the oldest premier medical education institutes of the country. It traces its foundation as a Medical School in Lahore as early as 1864 and later being established in Amritsar in 1920. The college has a cherished history and earned for itself a place of pride in the field of medical education and patient care in the region.
