General Conditions:
- The Centre of Excellence for studies in Classical Kannada (CESCK), a Government of India initiative, requires following positions on “CONTRACUAL BASIS”.
- The CESCK will work on various Schemes and activities identified by the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore which includes research, documentation, propagation and teaching of Classical Kannada. It will also coordinate such work undertaken by the individuals, institutions in the States/UTs of India and abroad and provide linkages to studies in other classical languages in the world.
- The Project Director will work under the supervision and guidance of the Director, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, who is the Nodal Officer of the CESCK and in coordination with the
Government of KARNATAKA for the development of Classical Kannada. He/she will also help in planning the targets of various activities of the CESCK and ensuring that the people involved in the
process do so effectively with high order of quality. The financial responsibilities attached to the position will be limited to drawing up the plan and the budget for different activities. He/she is
expected to coordinate all endeavors involved in convening the meetings of the Project Planningcum-Monitoring Board (PMB) and other meetings etc. with the approval of the Nodal Officer. Also
he/she has to interact with other government and non-government organizations, educational and other research institutions, etc. to further the cause of CESCK. - The appointment of Project Director will be on contractual basis for a period of one year extendable for a maximum period of 3 years subject to annual review. The position carries a consolidated pay of Rs. 70,000/- per month (fixed). Candidates seeking to apply for this position should be less than 65 years of age on the last date of receipt of application, i.e. 21 days from the publication of
Notification in the Newspapers. - Doctoral Degree in Linguistics or Literature related to KANNADA language, with at least 15 years of research/teaching experience and at least 3 years of administrative experience in a reputed organization or an educational institution.
- Knowledge of Central Government rules and regulations are essential to run the CESCK. The candidates should be dynamic, research oriented and able to lead the Centre as per its aims and
objectives. He/she has to coordinate/supervise the 30 research scholars of doctoral and postdoctoral fellows, senior and junior fellows and 6 office staff. - Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada (CESCK) a Government of India initiative requires positions to be filled on contractual basis.
- The appointing authority of the Project staff of CESCK is the Director, CIIL who will also have the power of removal, if the incumbent’s service is found unsatisfactory, or the incumbent is found to be involved in misconduct or misappropriation of funds.

- The Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) is an Indian research and teaching institute based in Mysore, part of the Language Bureau of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.[1] It was founded on 17 July 1969.
- ll through the last 32 years in existence, this Institute has worked in a number of diverse disciplines. For these disciplines that are traditionally known to be often hostile to one another- CIIL has acted as a catalytic force responsible for convergence of different ideas. Provides ready manpower to such efforts in research and development in the universities and institutions provided they share the interest of CIIL, and
house all varieties of thoughts, theories and practices in language sciences – often seemingly contradictory but each one having its own heritage and importance. - The political economy of Higher Education shows that an important priority in the recent period has been to modernise our systems, which, unfortunately led to urbanisation of our space, leading to a quick rise of the middle class constituency and its strong desire to see avenues of upward mobility expanded. As the new urban middle class grew in power, they increasingly threw their weight behind educational reform, so that basic and secondary education has had, over the last few decades, a steady growth among the classes that could afford it. And, as their numbers grew, the supply of students who were capable of, and interested in, getting a higher education also grew. Ultimately this growing demand put pressure on all governments to expand all institutions of advanced education. But there has been very little realization that these institutions owe their rise to the common man and that it is: therefore, necessary to contribute to their welfare in as many ways as possible. The special efforts that CIIL has made in protecting, promoting and documenting our little known linguistic heritage by archiving 118 Indian languages, including 80 tribal languages, has been a step in that direction. The harnessing of higher education to the broader needs of national socio-cultural and economic development should be the focus of the present times.
