General Information:

  • Applications in the prescribed format are invited from qualified candidates for appointment to the post of Assistant Professor in various disciplines on contract basis in School of Engineering as detailed below:
  • A Master’s Degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an Accredited Foreign University.
  • Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, Like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D.Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of MPhil/Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET/ SLET/ SET:
  • Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the Degree and such Ph.D. Candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/ SLET/ SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:-
  • The Ph.D. Degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode;
  • The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;
  • An open Ph.D Viva Voce of the candidate has been conducted;
  • The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D work, out of which at least one is in a referred journal;
  • The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D work in Conferences/Seminars sponsored/ funded/ supported by the UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or any similar agency.
  • The fulfillment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University concerned.
  • NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET.
  • The Ph.D. Degree has been obtained from a Foreign University/Institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii)the Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) the Academic ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).
  • The faculty on contract basis in School of Engineering will be engaged from July to April with breaks during vacations months of May-June. The initial period of appointment is for one year which may be extended upto 3 years. Reservation Rules are applicable for the appointments to the above posts.

  • Separate application with prescribed fee should be submitted online for each post having separate serial number.
  • Candidates shall apply online on or before 12.12.2020.4.
  • The signed hard copy of the application [with copies of documents to prove age, qualification (Marklist and Degree Certificate)]/ Specialization, proof that the journals are approved by UGC/peer reviewed, Experience Certificate, Award, Proof for CGPA to percentage conversion and proof for all other additional qualification like UGC,NET etc., and reservations, if any, should reach the Registrar, CUSAT on or before 19.12.2020.
  • Late and defective applications will be summarily rejected.
  • Application Fee 700/- for (General) and 140/- for SC/ ST candidates.

  • Established in 1971 and named as University of Cochin, it was the symbol of commitment from the Government of Kerala towards the new scientific policy resolution adopted by the Central Government on 4th March 1958. The birth of the new University was with the specific purpose of “development of higher education with particular emphasis on post-graduate studies and research in applied science, technology, industry and commerce”. The University of Cochin was later reorganized as Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986. Specialisations are available in all Faculties/Departments for higher studies and research. By giving recognition to several well-established premier research institutions in the country and the Southern Naval Command of Indian Navy, the University has brought within its reach the resources available in these institutions also to the use of our academic community.
