General Information:
- Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) to work on the project entitled “Archaeogenetic Research and Cultural Resource Management at the Harappa Site of Rakhigarhi” sponsored by Department of Science and Technology (DST) under Science and Heritage Research Initiative (SHRI), New Delhi.
- Candidate should have Master’s Degree in AIHC and Archaeology/Art History/Heritage Management/Architecture/Conservation Science with minimum 60% marks (or equal Grade Point). Candidates should have qualified National Level Exam, such as NET/SET/GATE.
- Preference will be given to the candidates who have minimum up to 6 months of experience of working in a research project/ research experience/archaeological fieldwork experience/ project report writing experience and having command over English language and Computer skill.
- The Upper age limit for the candidate should be below 28 years as on 01/12/2020. Age relaxation will be given to the candidates as per Govt. of India rules or highly suitable/qualified one.

- The Deccan Education Society is an organisation that runs 43 education establishments in Maharashtra, India. Its main branch is situated in Pune.
- In 1880 Vishnushastri Chiplunkar, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Gopal Ganesh Agarkar established the New English School, one of the first native-run schools offering Western education in Pune.In 1884 they created the Deccan Education Society with Hon. Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade, Gopal Ganesh Agarkar, Mahadev Ballal Namjoshi, V. S. Apte, V. B. Kelkar, M. S. Gole and N. K. Dharap
- In 1885, the society established Fergusson College, named after the then Governor of Bombay presidency Sir James Fergusson. The college was initially operated out of Gadre Wada in Shaniwar peth area of Pune. At its inception, the college was the first indigenously run higher-education institution in Pune.In its early years Tilak and Agharkar served as academic staff. Congress party leader, Gopal Krishna Gokhale and social reformer, Dhondo Keshav Karve were also life members of the society and taught at the college in the 1890s.
- The society established many schools and colleges in Pune and other towns during following decades such as New English School of Satara in 1899.[6] The society took over the Mawjee Madhavjee English School in Umbergaon in 1919, and the Dravid High School of Wai in 1934. In 1919, the society opened the Willingdon College in Sangli in order to satisfy demand for higher education in southern Maharashtra region. In 1939, the Society deceded to enter the field of secondary education for girls by starting the Ahilyadevi High School for Girls in the historic premises of the Holkar Wada in Pune. In 1943, the society started the Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce, for which the Brihan Maharashtra Sugar Syndicate Ltd. gave to the Society a donation of Rs. 2,00,000.Rulers of many Princely states such as Bhor and Sangli were patrons of the society.
- In the year 1880, the late Shri V. K. Chiplunkar with Lokmanya Tilak and M. B. Namjoshi started ‘New English School’ in Pune with the objective of ‘cheapening and facilitating education’. In course of time Shri V. S. Apte, (M. A.), Shri. G. G. Agarkar, (M. A.), Shri V. B. Kelkar, (B. A.), Shri M. S. Gole, (M. A.), and Shri. N. K. Dharap, (B. A.) joined them.
- To incorporate a regular constitution on a new and more extended basis, these pioneers of innovative education called a meeting of the sympathisers with private education on the 24th October, 1884, and at that meeting the Deccan Education Society was formed and the New English School, (Tilak Road, Pune), placed under its management. On the 13th August 1885 the Society was registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. Since that time several institutions have been created and have been placed under the management of the Society.
