General Instruction:

- For applying, the Candidates should have scanned image of their photograph and signature in CD/DVD/Pen drive as per their convenience.
- Candidates who wishes to apply for the post of Office Assistant shall click “Apply Online” against the post Notified in the Tamil Nadu Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department Website www.tnrd.gov.in.
- Candidates should provide their personal details and submit the application at once by click ‘SUBMIT’ button. After submitting, download the duly filled application in PDF file.
- Please note that all the particulars mentioned in the online application including Name of the Candidates, Post Applied for Communal Category, Date of Birth, Address, Mobile Number, etc., will be considered as final. However, Candidates can modify the fields till the last date specified for applying online. Click the “TO EDIT & UPDATE” link in the www.tnrd.gov.in website and provide the Mobile Number, Communal category and Date of birth details to edit and updating the already filled application form.

applications within the last date on account of the aforesaid reasons or for any other reason beyond the control of www.tnrd.gov.in - There is a provision to modify the submitted Online Application.Candidates are requested to make use of this facility to correct their details in
the Online Application, if any. This modification facility will be available up to the last date for applying online for the post. After this last date, no modification will be permitted. Candidates should take utmost care while filling in the Online Application. Certain fields are fixed and cannot be edited. Candidates are hence requested to fill in the online application form with utmost care as no correspondence regarding change of details will be entertained. - Candidates should carefully fill in the details in the Online Application at the appropriate places and click on the ‘SUBMIT” button at the end of the On-Line Application format. - The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department is responsible for the implementation of various Centrally-sponsored, State-funded, and Externally-aided schemes for poverty alleviation, employment generation, sanitation, capacity building, women’s social and economic empowerment, Tsunami rehabilitation, apart from provision of basic amenities and services. The Department is also entrusted with the responsibility of enabling the various Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) to function as effective units of Local Self-Government. There are 12,524 Village Panchayats, 385 Panchayat Unions (co-terminus with Blocks) and 31 District Panchayats under the purview of the Department.

- Thiru.Hans Raj Verma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department from 09/06/2016 Fore Noon.The Directorate of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (including the Training wing), the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Limited and the Tsunami Project Implementation Unit come under this Department. These units are all headed by IAS officers. This Department also provides administrative support to the State Election Commission.
- Thiru. Dr.K.S.Palanisamy I.A.S., is the Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department from 25.09.2019. The Director of Rural development and Panchayat Raj coordinates all establishment matters pertaining to the Department. As the Head of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj at the State level, he oversees all matters pertaining to Panchayat Raj Institutions in the State as well as the implementation of Centrally sponsored schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY), Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), etc., and State-funded Schemes like Tamil Nadu Village Habitation Improvement Scheme(THAI), Member of Legislative Assembly Constituency Development Scheme (MLACDS), Self Sufficiency Scheme, Solar Powered Green House Scheme etc. The Principal Secretatry / Commissioner of Rural development and Panchayat Raj coordinates all establishment matters pertaining to the Department.
- The State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Maraimalai Nagar is the State-level training institution and functions under the control of a Director in the rank of Additional Director of Rural Development. The Secretary to Government, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department is the President and the Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj is the Vice-President of the SIRD.
- Tmt. Meenakshi Rajagopal, I.A.S., is the Additional Chief Secretary / Commissioner of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department (Training) since 04.06.2014 and co-ordinates various training programmes imparted to the elected representatives of the rural Local Bodies and officials of the Department through the five Regional Institutes of Rural Development (RIRDs) of the State.
