General Condition:

  • National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) invites applications for the 41 posts of Deputy Manager (Technical) in the Level 10 of Pay Matrix of 7th CPC (Prerevised: Pay Band-3 [(Rs.15,600-39,100/-) + Grade Pay of Rs.5400/-)] with Central DA on Direct recruitment basis through GATE 2021 scores in the discipline of Civil Engineering. The number of posts advertised may increase or decrease at the discretion of the Authority.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: A candidate should hold a Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute on the closing date of receipt of online application.
  • Candidates who are appearing for the final year/semester Degree (in Civil Engineering), the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the post, are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, whose announcement of final year results of Degree by the Universities/Institutes are likely to be delayed this year due to COVID Pandemic, are allowed, as a special case, to produce the proof of passing of the Degree at a later stage and such proof of passing the requisite Degree should NOT be dated later than 31st December, 2021 under any circumstances. In case of their selection, their joining to the post in NHAI will be considered only after submission of proof of passing of Degree in Civil Engineering acquired on or before 31st December, 2021, failing which such candidates will not be considered.
  • In case of candidates who are selected, but could not join NHAI due to pending receipt of proof of passing of Degree in Civil Engineering from their
    Universities/Institutes by the stipulated date i.e 31st December, 2021 or any other reason whatsoever, the period of delay in joining the post will be treated as delay on the part of the candidate(s) and their seniority, upon joining, will be regulated strictly in accordance with the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) guidelines, from time to time, on the subject.
  • MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants must fulfill the essential requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess at least the essential qualifications laid down for the post. No inquiry asking for advice as to eligibility will be entertained.
  • Not exceeding 30 years as on closing date of advertisement. The Upper age limit for advertised post on direct recruitment basis is relaxable as per Govt. of India rules applicable for different groups/category.
  • A candidate will be eligible to get the benefit of community reservation only in case the particular caste to which the candidate belongs is included in the list of reserved communities issued by the Central Government.
  • The OBC candidates applying for this post must submit OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate issued during the year 2021 – 2022.
  • Further the OBC certificate should also clearly indicate that the candidate does not belong to creamy layer as defined by the Government of India for applying to posts and services under the Central Government.
  • A candidate will be eligible to get the benefit of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) reservation only in case the candidate meets the criteria
    issued by the Central Government and is in possession of requisite Income & Asset Certificate based on income for Financial Year (FY) 2020-2021 issued after 01.04.2021.
  • Candidate’s seeking reservation as SC/ST/OBC/EWS, shall have to produce/submit a certificate in the prescribed proforma ONLY, meant for
    appointment to posts under the Government of India from the designated authority indicating clearly the candidate’s caste, the Act/Order under
    which the caste is recognized as SC/ST/OBC. They must also ensure that the name of their caste/community and its spelling in their caste/community
    certificate should be exactly as mentioned in the lists notified by the central government from time to time (for OBC category list of castes recognized by the Govt. of India as OBC castes in the central list is available on the site www.ncbc.nic.in, for ST category the list caste for each state is available on the site www.ncst.nic.in and for SC category the list of castes for each state is available on the site www.socialjustice.nic.in). A certificate containing any variation in the caste name will not be accepted.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST/Minority Communities/ladies/PwBD are especially welcome and should apply in large numbers.
  • Applications received through any other mode would not be accepted and summarily rejected.

  • The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is an autonomous agency of the Government of India, set up in 1988 and is responsible for management of a network of over 50,000 km of National Highways out of 1,32,499 km in India.It is a nodal agency of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. NHAI has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Space Research Organisation for satellite mapping of highways.Sukhbir Singh Sandhu (IAS), is the present Chairman of NHAI since 28 October 2019.
  • The NHAI was created through the promulgation of the National Highways Authority of India Act, 1988. Section 16(1) of the Act states that the function of NHAI is to develop, maintain and manage the national highways and any other highways vested in, or entrusted to, it by the Government of India. On 10 February 1995, NHAI came into operations and was formally made an autonomous body.It is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of National Highways, totaling over 92,851.05 km (57,694.97 mi) in length. The NHAI is also responsible of the toll collection on several highways.Yogendra Narain was the first Chairman of NHAI in 1988. He is a retired IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
  • The NHAI has the mandate to implement the National Highways Development Project (NHDP). The NHDP is under implementation in Phases.
  • Phase I: Approved in December 2000, at an estimated cost of 300 billion, it included the Golden Quadrilateral (GQ), portions of the NS-EW Corridors, and connectivity of major ports to National Highways.
  • Phase II: Approved in December 2003, at an estimated cost of 343 billion, it included the completion of the NS-EW corridors and another 486 km (302 mi) of highways.
  • The Golden Quadrilateral is a highway network connecting many of the major industrial, agricultural and cultural centres of India. A quadrilateral of sorts is formed by connecting Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai, and hence its name. The largest highway project in India and the fifth longest in the world was launched in 2001 by Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee and was completed in 2012. It is part of the first phase of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) and consisted of building 5,846 km (3,633 mi) four/six lane express highways at a cost of ₹600 billion (US$8.4 billion).
  • The North–South and East–West Corridor is part of the second phase of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) and consists of building 7,142 kilometres (4,438 mi) of four/six lane expressways connecting Srinagar in the north and Kanyakumari & Kochi in the south, Porbandar in the west and Silchar in the east, at a cost of US$12.317 billion (at 1999 prices).
