Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), a State owned Power utility in Odisha is engaged in the business of Transmission of electricity with a vision to emerge as one of the leading power utilities in the country in Transmission space. The present asset value of the Corporation is about Rs. 6560 Crores. OPTCL operates in the entire state having 168 Grid  Sub-stations .

OPTCL intends to recruit energetic ITI qualified candidates in Electrician Trade for placement at various units across the State, preferably in KBK and other backward districts of the State.

Selection Criteria for OPTCL

  1. The selection process involves Computer Based Test (CBT) and Skill Test and Career Marking.
  2. Eligible candidates will be called for Computer Based Test, comprising 200 number of

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), out of which Subject Knowledge (80%), Numerical / GK & Reasoning (10%) & English Knowledge (10%). The CBT will be of Three (3) hours duration. 

  • There shall be no negative marking.
  1. Candidates who qualify in CBT and shortlisted, shall be called for Skill Test in 1:3 ratio in each category.
  2. Since the job involves climbing of Towers / Structures and other Electrical Operation & Maintenance related activities; Skill Test shall be conducted on the above activities. The Skill test will only be of qualifying nature.
  3. The candidates, who have qualified in the Skill Test shall be called for document verification for Career Marking. 
  4. The merit list of the qualified candidates will be drawn purely on the basis of Performance in the CBT and Career Marking. The CBT and career marking shall carry weightage of 80% and 20% respectively.
  5. The offer of appointment shall be issued to the selected candidates on the basis of merit. However the final appointment of selected candidates will be subject to their medical fitness as per the prescribed standard.
  6. On selection, candidates will be posted at any of the existing/ future offices of OPTCL throughout Odisha preferably in KBK and other backward districts.
