General Information:
- Applications are invited from MALE & FEMALE Indian’ Citizens for filling up following posts of Constable (Tradesman) in BORDER SECURITY FORCE in the Pay Matrix Level-3, Pay scale Rs. 21,700-69,100/- and other allowances as admissible to Central Govt. employees from time to time. The posts are temporary but likely to become permanent.
- Vacancies are subject to change (may increase or decrease).
- Vacancies of above Trades are further distributed amongst all the States/UTs as per population ratio of each State/UTs. Please log on to BSF web site www.bsf.nic.in to see the distribution of above vacancies as State wise & Category wise.
- Between 18 to 23 years as on 1st August, 2019. Relaxable for candidates of SC/ST/OBC category and other special categories of personnel in accordance with the instructions issued by. Central Govt. from time to time.
- Two years work experience in respective trades; OR One year certificate course from Industrial Training Institute of Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the trade;OR Two years Diploma from Industrial Training Institute in the trade or similar trade.
- Multi-Skilled candidates will be given preference.
- Scheduled Tribes/Adivasis of all States and Union Territories including Nagas and Mizos.
- Men belonging to the categories of Garhwalis,Kumaonis,Gorkhas,Dogras,Marathas and candidates belonging to the States of Sikkim,Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur,Tripura,Mizoram, Meghalaya,Assam,Himachal Pradesh,Kashmir,Leh & Ladakh regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

The application form and admit card duly filled up by the candidates may be sent to concerned Recruitment Agency (BSF HQRs) under which their State falls along with recent passport size photographs, examination fees & other required documents.
- Last date of submission of applications is 30 days, from the date of publication of the advertisement in Employment News Paper and 45 days for candidates belonging to far flung areas i.e North Eastern States, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu & Kashmir State, Lahaul & Spiti Districts and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh State, the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands or Union Territory of Lakshadweep.

Vacancy Notice 1763 Constable (Tradesmen) Vacancy – BSF,All India
- Till 1965 India’s borders with Pakistan were manned by the State Armed Police Battalion. Pakistan attacked Sardar Post, Chhar Bet and Beria Bet on 9 April, 1965 in Kutch. This exposed the inadequacy of the State Armed Police to cope with armed aggression due to which the Government of India felt the need for a specialized centrally controlled Border Security Force, which would be armed and trained to man the International Border with Pakistan. As a result of the recommendations of the Committee of Secretaries, the Border Security Force came into existence on 01 Dec 1965, and Shri K F Rustamji was the first chief and founding father. Shri Rajni Kant Mishra, IPS is current Director General of the BSF.
- The BSF, in its 53rd years of existence, has emerged as an elite force of the country having excelled with distinction in the 1971 war with Pakistan. Its ethos is “Any task, any time, any where” and the BSF has given blood and sweat to execute its motto “Jeevan Paryant Kartavya”.
- The BSF contributes every year a number of personnel for services for UN Mission.
- During the Kargil conflict in May-July 1999, the BSF remained on the heights of the mountains and defended the integrity of the country with all the might at its command in unison with the Army.
- BSF personnel have been performing Internal Security Duty in Manipur and have been successfully fighting insurgency in those areas.
- During the flood in Gujarat in 2017, BSF extend help to the distressed people in many area & specially in Banaskantha.
- During the communal disturbances in Gujarat recently, BSF personnel went all out to restore amity and brotherhood among the people.
- The BSF took over the erection of the border fencing in Jammu & Kashmir and it was successful in its task despite all attempts of Pakistan to scuttle our efforts.
- The BSF has been defending the borders and checking infiltration on the borders during the current standoff with Pakistan and Bangladesh. BSF is deployed on LC with the Indian Army.
- There shall be an armed force of the Union called the Border Security Force for ensuring the security of the borders of India.
- Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Force shall be constituted in such manner as may be prescribed and the conditions of service of the members of the Force shall be such as may be prescribed.
- The general superintendence, direction and control of the Force shall vest in, and be exercised by, the Central Government and subject thereto and to the provisions of this Act and the rules, the command and supervision of the Force shall vest in an officer to be appointed by the Central Government as the Director-General of the force.
- The Director-General shall, in the discharge of his duties under this Act, be assisted by such number of Inspectors-General, Deputy Inspectors-General, Commandants and other officers as may be appointed by the Central Government.
- The persons to be enrolled to the Force, the mode of enrolment, and the procedure for enrolment shall be such as may be prescribed by the Central Government.
- Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act and the rules, every person who has, for a continuous period of three months, been in receipt of pay as a person enrolled under this Act and borne on the rolls of the Force shall be deemed to have been duly enrolled.
- Every member of the Force shall be liable to serve in any part of India as well as outside India.
