General Conditions:
- National Book Trust, India, an apex body in publication of books and book promotion in the country, invites application from the eligible candidates filling up the following post purely on contract basis (full time) initially for the period of three months which can be extendable as per requirement for the Trust
- The NBT reserves the right not to fill up the post, as advertised, if circumstances so warrant.
- Posts may be increased/ decreased at the discretion of the Competent Authority
- Proofs towards possessing essential education qualifications and experience should be submitted along with the application form.
- The candidate should have good communication skills in English, Hindi and Regional Languages.
- During his/her service with the Trust he/she may be required to serve in any part of India under an office of this office.
- During the tenure with NBT, it is not allowed to work concurrently with any other organisation of the similar field/ nature.
- Mere fulfilling the qualifications does not entitle a candidate to be necessarily considered or called for the interview.
- The NBT reserves the right not to fill up the vacancies as advertised.

- National Book Trust (NBT) is an Indian publishing house, founded in 1957 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education of the Government of India. NBT now functions under aegis of Ministry of Education, Govt. of India
- India’s first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru envisioned that NBT would be a bureaucracy-free structure that would publish low-cost books.They publish a monthly Newsletter about recent publications.
- The activities of the Trust include publishing, promotion of books and reading, promotion of Indian books abroad, assistance to authors and publishers, and promotion of children’s literature. NBT publishes reading material in several Indian languages for all age-groups, including books for children and Neo-literates.
- NBT’s children’s books are known for their illustrations, by illustrators such as Pulak Biswas, Jagdish Joshi, Mrinal Mitra, Subir Roy, Atanu Roy, Manjula Padmanabhan, Mickey Patel and Suddhasattwa Basu. Painters Jatin Das and Krishen Khanna have also illustrated books for the Trust. Lt.Col Yuvraj Malik appointed as Director.
- The National Book Trust (NBT), India is an apex body established by the Government of India (Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development) in the year 1957. The objectives of the NBT are to produce and encourage the production of good literature in English, Hindi and other Indian languages and to make such literature available at moderate prices to the public and to bring out book catalogues, arrange book fairs/exhibitions and seminars and take all necessary steps to make the people book minded.
- To widen readership base across the country, various programmes have been recently initiated by National Book Trust, India. Some of the new outreach programmes are detailed below:
- The year 2019 marks the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikhism. As part of the year-long celebrations, NBT India is publishing four books on the teachings and philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev, viz. Guru Nanak Vani by Bhai Jodh Singh; Nanak Vani by Manjeet Singh; Baramah by renowned artist Siddharth, a coffee table book based on the poetic composition of Guru Nanak Dev; and Sakhian by Jagtaarjeet and illustrated by Gurdeep Singh. These books will be published in different Indian languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Sanskrit and English.
