General Instruction:
- The number of vacancies may increase or decrease, depending on their availability at the time of selection.
- The reservation for various categories would be determined as per the provisions of S.O. 127 dated 20.04.2020.
- Applications along with the prescribed fee will be received only through online mode on recruitment portal of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir link of which will be activated on 03.05.2021 on the website of the High Court: httos://www.jkhighcourt.nic.in.
- Submission of Application Form and fee payment shall not be accepted/entertained after the cut-off date fixed for receipt of the same.
- The printout of the application alongwith the fee payment receipt and required copies of documents shall be kept ready to be submitted as and when required.
- The in-service candidates/contractual employees shall submit photocopy of the filled up online application form through proper channel viz. the concerned Head of Department. In the event of failure of the candidate to route the application through proper channel, his/her eligibility shall be assessed as if he/she is not an in-service candidate. The Head of Department concerned shall forward the application form of the in-service candidates at the address of the Registrar General, High Court of J&K within 15 days after the last date of filing their Application form.
- The criteria and syllabus for the test for the selection to the post of Reader is as per Annexure-“B” to this Notification.
- The eligible candidates shall have to appear in the test on the date(s) notified separately. No separate call letters shall be issued individually; however, wide publicity shall be given through print and electronic media, official website https://www.jkhighcourt.nic.in of the High Court about the venues, dates of written test/ interview for the information of eligible candidates. No claim of being unaware of the dates/schedule for written test/interview shall be entertained.
- No TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates for test/interview.
- Qualification acquired after the last date of submission of application shall not be taken for consideration.
- Before applying online, the candidates are advised to carefully go through the guidelines for online submission of forms. These guidelines will be available in the online portal of the High Court.
- Recruitment will be made through written test and skill test. Candidates will be called for written test, based on qualification. Details of exam will be mentioned in admit card in due course.
- Application fee is Nil for SC/ST candidates and Rs 360/- for other candidates, to be paid online.
- Candidates need to fill application only through provided online facility. Candidates should fill required details carefully in online application. Personal email id and mobile number should also be filled in online Application. After final submission of application, a print of application should retain for future use.

Vacancy Notice 04 Readers Vacancy – JK High Court
- The Jammu and Kashmir High Court is the Common high court for union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. It was established in 26 March 1928 by letters patent issued by the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir. The seat of the court shifts between its summer capital Srinagar and winter capital Jammu of Jammu and Kashmir. The court has a sanctioned judge strength of 17 in which 13 are permanent judges and 4 are additional judges.Since 4 January 2021, the Chief Justice of the court is Justice Pankaj Mithal.
- The High Court of the Jammu Kashmir was established on the basis of the Order No. 1 issued by the Maharaja on 26 March 1928. The Maharaja appointed Lala Kanwar Sain as the first Chief Justice and Lala Bodh Raj Sawhney and Khan Sahib Aga Syed Hussain as puisne judges.The seats of the High Court were at Jammu and Srinagar. On 10 September 1943, letters patent were conferred on the High Court by the Maharaja. Khan Sahib Aga Syed Hussain was the first Muslim Judge of the High Court. He retired as Home and Judicial Minister of Jammu & Kashmir during the Maharaja Rule.In August 2018, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court got its first and second woman judges. Sindhu Sharma who was appointed as a Judge and Justice Gita Mittal who was appointed as the Chief Justice of the J&K High Court.
- In August 2019, a Reorganisation Bill was passed by both houses of the Indian Parliament. The provisions contained in the bill reorganised the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories; Jammu and Kashmir (union territory) and Ladakh with effect from 31 October 2019. The existing Jammu and Kashmir High Court is to continue as the high court for both union territories.
- In 2001, the Hon’ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir Vide its Order No. 342, dated 26 July 2001 established its regular Judicial Academy in the year 2001. Since then, Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy is functioning regularly and is holding training programmes on regular basis.Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy has its own infrastructure at Jammu in the premises of High Court and in Srinagar at Mominabad. Administrative machinery of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, as per tradition moves to Summer Capital, Srinagar in the month of April, and to Winter Capital, Jammu in the month of November, every year. In view of this tradition, Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy also functions likewise from Jammu and Srinagar. It has infrastructures both in Jammu and Srinagar.
