General Information:
- Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Bio-Energy, an autonomous Institute of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has initiated ’SSS-NIBE Bioenergy Promotion Fellowship’ to promote research activities in bioenergy and to attract competent researchers in this field. Applications in prescribed Performa are invited from eligible candidates for 6 posts of JRF/SRF in the field of Bioenergy.
- Only bonafide Indian citizens, residing in India are eligible for the award of Research Fellowship
- The candidate must furnish about 500 words abstract of the R&D works he/she plans to pursue at the Institute on the research topics proposed in the advertisement.
- Misrepresentation or hiding of facts, canvassing in any form shall lead to disqualification/termination. No interim enquiries will be attended by the Institute.
- The decision of Competent Authority, SSS-NIBE on all matters related to posts, selection, recommendation etc. shall be final and the number
of posts, with respect to positions of JRF/SRF, may be increased or decreased, as per requirement in the Institute. Any correspondence in this matter will not be entertained. - The selected candidates have the bindings at the Institute only.
- The upper age limit is relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH and OBC (NCL) applicants as per Govt. of India rules and regulations. Physically handicapped candidates should produce the medical certificate issued from the Govt. Hospital / medical board as the case may be in support of his/her claim.
- The application must be submitted hard copy along with curriculum vitae (CV), brief proposal on research topic, self attested copies of certificates / mark sheets / testimonials together with their best publication and a passport size photograph.
- Applicants must send the hard copy of complete application through Speed Post/Registered Post only, with envelope clearly super scribed as “Application for the post of …… (JRF/SRF) for research topic …. (Code No) ’’. The details of the Code No and research topics are given in the advertisement.
- TA/DA or any claim whatsoever will not be reimbursed/paid to candidate to attend the written test/presentation/interview.
- All disputes on the subject matter will be within the jurisdiction of courts at Kapurthala, Punjab.
- The date of written test/ presentation / interview will be intimated to the candidate by e-mail only. So candidates are instructed to mention their e-mail id/id’s carefully in application form.
- The candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions should send their application on the prescribed performa (available at SSS-NIBE website www.nibe.res.in) along with one page write up of proposed research plan, strictly on the proposed topics, to Director General, Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Bio- Energy (SSS-NIBE), Jalandhar-Kapurthala Road, Wadala Kalan, Kapurthala. The application received up to 21 days from the date of advertisement in Employment News will only be entertained. Envelope containing the Application should be super scribed as “Application for the post of …… (JRF/SRF) for research topic …. (Code No) ’’.
- The upper age limit for JRF shall be 28 years, which is relaxed upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes, Women, Physically Handicapped and OBC applicants as per Govt. of India rules & regulations.
- JRF will be tenable initially for a period of two years. After completion of two years, an external assessment by the institute and PhD enrollment are mandatory for upgradation from JRF to SRF. The term is extendable for one more year on the basis of assessment of the progress made through publication and if not awarded the SRF. The combined tenure of JRF & SRF will not exceed more than five years.

- To establish the Institute as an apex R & D institution for carrying out state-of-the-art research and developmental activities in the area of bio-energy,including the human resource development at all levels, post-doctoral research and research leading to commercialization of renewable energy technologies.
- To be knowledge based R & D Institution of high quality. 2. Providing services and seeks to find optimum solutions for the major stakeholders across the entire spectrum of the bio-energy sector. 3. To support the Rural Energy sector in developing the knowledge for promoting new technology.
- To carry out and facilitate research, design, development, testing, standardization and technology demonstration eventually leading to commercialization of R & D output with a focus on: a. Bioenergy, biofuels and synthetic fuels in solid, liquid and gaseous forms for transportation, portable and stationary applications; and b. Development of hybrid/integrated energy systems. 2. To undertake and facilitate human resource development and training including post-doctoral research in the area of bioenergy. 3. To create facilities for operationalization of the Institute.
- The Institute proposed to work on the following areas as per direction of the Governing Council chaired by Secretary, MNRE: 1. Solid Fuel laboratory: Biomass characterization, combustion, pyrolysis and Testing of Chulha. 2. Liquid Fuel laboratory: Biodiesel, Bio-ethanol and Hydro-cracking of vegetable oil. 3. Gaseous Fuel laboratory: Producer gas, Biogas and Bio-hydrogen.
