General Information:
- All the above posts are tenable at ICTS, Bangalore.
- Appointments for the above posts at Sr. 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 will be initially for one year which may be extended depending upon the individual’s performance and the requirements of the Centre. The selected candidate(s) will be required to join immediately.
- Appointments for the above posts at Sr. 6 & 7 will be initially for six months which may be extended upto 1 year maximum depending upon the individual’s performance and the requirements of the Centre. Selected candidate(s) will be required to join immediately.
- Prescribed age should not exceed as on January 1, 2021 for the above post.

- Candidates may use the ICTS shuttle which will be parked outside the IISc gate (opposite BHEL). The shuttle will leave the pickup point at 8.45 am.
- The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for the recruitment process to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Mere fulfilling the essential and desirable qualifications and experience will not entitle an applicant to be called for the recruitment process. More vacancies may also be filled through this advertisement. The Institute reserves the right not to fill any/some posts herein advertised. Canvassing in any form shall disqualify the candidate.
- Before applying for the post, the candidate should ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility and other criteria. - Candidates should mandatorily submit self-declaration about COVID’s negative status of self and family at the gate, failing which he/ she will not be permitted to enter the ICTS campus.
- Candidates under the following category will not be permitted to enter:-
a. diagnosed with and/or undergoing treatment for COVID-19
b. have been in close proximity and/or personal contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19
c. Aarogya Setu App status other than Low Risk/Safe
d. having flu-like symptoms in the last fourteen days, including fever, chills, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell/taste, or any other symptom related to COVID-19
e. have not been under fourteen day’s home institutional quarantine or centralized
observations demanded by government and healthcare authorities on the recruitment day
f. staying in the containment zone - It is mandatory to undergo thermal scanning and SPO2 test before entering the ICTS campus. Candidates with high temperatures or other symptoms of COVID-19 will not be permitted to enter the ICTS campus and participate in the recruitment process.
- Candidates coming by interstate travel/ interdistrict travel will not be permitted to enter with a valid RT-PCR negative report done within 72 hours of the recruitment date.
- Candidates should maintain social distancing while commuting to and from the ICTS campus and from the time of entry till the exit from the campus.
- Candidates should carry a hand-sanitizer of up to 50 ml, a face mask, gloves, food and a water bottle for personal use.
- Candidates should not share personal items like masks, gloves, water bottles, etc.
- It is mandatory to wear a face mask properly at all times, while on campus. The candidates are not allowed to roam around the campus.
- Candidates should wash their hands/ use hand sanitizer before entering the examination venue.
- Installation of Aarogya Setu app is mandatory. Candidates have to show the Aarogya Setu APP status Green (Low risk/ Safe) for entering the campus.
- Candidates should maintain social distancing and stay more than 6 feet away from other people at all times on the campus.

- The International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS), a centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, is a research institute based in Bengaluru, India. Founded in 2007, ICTS has grown from a fledgling institution to a global centre of activity in various areas of science. Prof. Spenta R. Wadia was the founding director of the institute and served till 2015, after which he was succeeded by Rajesh Gopakumar as the Director.
- ICTS is a multi and interdisciplinary venture that brings together various subjects such as mathematics, physics, biology, computer science and earth sciences. It is envisaged as a place where researchers from around the world meet and interact for critical periods of time in a relaxed and collaborative atmosphere. ICTS hopes to attract the best researchers from around the world to organize and participate in programs that stimulate progress in science. It is also involved in high level education and training and in reaching out to the larger society by serving as a node for scientific information and values. Science outreach and public engagement - ICTS aims to have a high quality permanent faculty of modest size together with a large floating population of visitors, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. The faculty members work in various areas of theoretical sciences. ICTS also has a wide group of Associated Faculty, who are deeply involved in various activities of the Centre. ICTS has a vigorous Ph.D. students’ program. The students are stationed in Bangalore and their course requirements for a degree from TIFR are partly fulfilled by arrangements with various institutions in Bangalore. A strong post-doctoral program has also been initiated. The scientific questions that drive the current ICTS faculty research are from the broad areas of Astrophysical Relativity, Data Assimilation and Dynamical Systems, Condensed matter and Statistical Physics, Physical Biology and String Theory and Interdisciplinary/Exploratory mathematics.
- ICTS provides a platform along with resources for researchers working on diverse subjects to congregate during high-quality programs of varying durations. Cross-disciplinary immersions are encouraged at ICTS.
- Long duration programs have a large educational component. They aim to provide an introduction to current problems in an emerging research area. There is a fair balance of international and national participation. The lecturers are carefully chosen and are often distinguished scientists. The participants are mainly graduate students, postdocs, and young faculty.
- Short programs are focused discussion meetings on a recent exciting development in a given field. They are also often organized around a leading lecturer on a theme related to her/his work. These meetings usually include a research-oriented participation and are frequently organized in conjunction with one of the following three lecture series: Chandrasekhar (Physical Sciences), Ramanujan (Mathematics) and Turing (Biology, Computer Science and Engineering).
