Medical Qualification , Post Graduate i.e. MD/MS along with M.Ch. (Thoracic Surgery)/M.Ch. (Cardio Thoracic Surgery) or Speciality with 2 yrs experience,/Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or equivalent.

General Instruction:

- NITRD reserves the right to fix criteria for calling the required number of candidates, as may be necessary, for interview.
- The prescribed essential qualifications as above are bare minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview.
- NITRD reserves the right to fill or not to fill the posts mentioned above without assigning any reason(s).
- No. of posts can be increased or decreased by the Competent Authority.
- Incomplete applications not on the prescribed proforma will be summarily rejected.
- The candidate already in Govt. Service should send his/her application through proper channel or they have to bring ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their present employer at the time of interview.
- Candidates are required to enclose attested Photostat copies of all certificates in support of qualifications and experience.
- Applicants should affix recently taken attested passport size photograph on the application.
- The completed application form should be accompanied by requisite nonrefundable fee in the form of Demand Draft of any Nationalized Bank drawn in favour of “Director, National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases” payable at New Delhi. No fees for SC/ST/PH & Woman candidates.
- Completed application form should be sent to Director, National Institute of TB & Respiratory Diseases, Sri Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi-110030 on or before the last date.
- Applications received after the last date will not be considered.
- 3 years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or equivalent. Registered as Nurse; and Registered as Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Council
- Age is relaxable by five years for SC/ST, three years for OBC candidates and 10 years for Physically Handicapped and 5 years for Government servant as per Govt. of India instructions.
- A recognized medical Qualification included in the I or II schedule or Part II of the third schedule(other than the Licentiate Qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956. Holders of educational qualifications included in Part II of third schedule should also fulfil the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of section 13 of IMC the Act) – 1956 (b) Double Post Graduate i.e. MD/MS along with M.Ch. (Thoracic Surgery)/M.Ch. (Cardio Thoracic Surgery) or Speciality board of Thoracic
Surgery (USA) OR equivalent.

- The National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (NITRD) started from a humble beginning as a TB Hospital in 1956.It became an institute in 1991 and was glorified with its National status in 2013. The indomitable spirit of its leaders and the dedicated staff along with immense support of the Government of India and the Governing Body of the Institute, the Institute has achieved not only national but also international stature in patient care, training and research.
- The Institute provides expert medical care for patients with tuberculosis as well as other respiratory disorders. We have a 470 bedded hospital and an Out Patient Department with an average attendance of 600 patients per day. In addition to our daily TB & respiratory OPD, we have specialized clinics for lung cancer cases, HIV medicine, sleep medicine, allergic disorders, tobacco cessation and pulmonary rehabilitation. Our Thoracic Surgery department is one of its kinds in the country with patients being referred even from neighboring countries. Further, the Department of Respiratory Critical Care dedicatedly provides intensive care to cases with serious respiratory disorders and is the only centre which provides critical care services for sputum positive TB patients. The Institute has a State-of-the-art negative pressure ward for hospitalizing MDR TB patients and a 40-bedded private ward as well. The Institute also provides outreach facilities for diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis at the door step of the patients through the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP).
- The Institute has always supported the TB Control Program of the country. Over the years, the Institute’s faculty has played a key role in developing various strategies and national policies for TB Control. We have piloted Program initiatives like Programmatic Management Drug Resistant TB, Pediatric TB Management, Private Sector involvement and involvement of medical colleges and have facilitated in their implementation at the National level.
- The Institute has been recognized as a Centre of Excellence by the WHO under its Tuberculosis Supranational Reference Laboratory Network. Our Microbiology department has BSL-III facility and is a National Reference Laboratory under the RNTCP. The Pathology and Biochemistry laboratories as well as Radiology department have the latest equipment and fully trained personnel.
- Our Institute has a dedicated training division and conducts diverse kinds of training courses. We have trained around 17000 state and district trainers for RNTCP alone over the past two decades. Recently, the Institute has been given status of ‘WHO Collaborating Center for TB Training’ and has expanded training to South East Asia region countries.
