General Information:
- On behalf of Higher Education (Technical) Department, Govt. of Assam, online applications are invited from the permanent residents of Assam for appointment to the following posts of newly established 5 (Five) Polytechnics to be made functional from August 2020 under the Directorate of Technical Education, Assam. The posts will be filled up under Regulation 3(f) of the Assam Public Service Commission (Limitation of Functions) Regulations, 1951, in the Scale of Pay and Grade Pay as indicated below along with usual allowances as admissible under Rules of the Govt. of Assam. The appointment will be purely on ad-hoc basis for a period of 4 (four) months as per Regulation 3(f) of the Assam Public Service Commission.
- Candidates must be ready to serve in any of the Institutions under DTE
- All other details will be available in the Official website of Directorate of Technical Education, Assam.
- Candidates must not be less than 21 years and more than 38 years of age on 01.01.2020. However, the upper age limit is relaxable as per existing Govt. rules.
- There shall be usual reservation for SC/ST/STH/OBC/EWS Candidates including Women and PWDs (Person with disabilities) as per Govt. rules.
- The modalities for selection procedure, application fee etc. will be notified/uploaded in www.dte.assam.gov.in in due course of time.
- The candidate must upload the scan copy of the proof of Permanent Resident of Assam (Voter id or PRC), Qualifying examination, Age, Caste etc. along with recent passport size photograph and specimen signature at the time of online application.
- The candidate must produce the Original of all the documents mentioned above and submit self-attested copies of all the testimonials along with 3 (three) copies of self-attested recent Passport size photograph in due course of time which will be notified later in the Website.
- No application either by Post or in Person shall be entertained by the office of the undersigned.
- Any change or amendment to this Advertisement will be posted on the above-mentioned website only.
- Incomplete / defective applications shall be rejected without giving any intimation to the Candidates/applicants.

- Technical Education in Assam started with the establishment of Prince of Wales Institute of Engineering & Technology at Jorhat before independence in 1927. Establishment of Assam Engineering Institute and later establishment of Assam Engineering College was the beginning of Technical Education in the State of Assam. It has been a long journey of evolution of State technical Education in the State of Assam. Directorate of Technical Education, Assam was established at 1960. Now there are 5 Govt. Engineering Colleges and 21 Polytechnic Institutions under this Directorate. In the Technical Education front, there has been phenomenal growth in the recent past. The first Engineering College – Assam Engineering College was established in 1956 at Guwahati and the first Diploma Institution. Assam Textile Institution was established in 1920 at Guwahati.
