General Instruction:
- CSIR (PPD) / DST prevailing guidelines are applicable to these positions. Positions are purely temporary & on contract basis and is co-terminus with the project’s tenure.
- Eligible candidates are required to submit applications online.
- The age relaxation of 5 years for statutory groups and women.
- Selection of the candidates will be based on initial screening based on qualifications as specified in the advertisement. Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. Depending on the number of shortlisted candidates written test may also be conducted to shortlist the candidate.
- The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. The duly constituted Screening Committee will adopt its own criteria for short-listing the candidates. The candidates should therefore, mention in the application all the qualifications and experiences in the relevant area over and above the minimum prescribed qualification, supported with documents. Completion of PhD degree will be reckoned from the date of issue of provisional certificate/notification.
- Candidates who have completed their degree with requisite educational qualifications only need to apply.
- The engagement under project does not confer any right/claim whatsoever, either explicitly or implicitly on the appointee for regular appointment in CSIR/CSIR-CCMB, against any post or otherwise under any legal conditions or precedent.
- All the communication regarding the call for interview will be only through electronic mode (through: E-mail)
- No TA/DA will be paid to the candidate for appearing for the written test/interview.
- The terms and conditions of engagement of project staff may be amended from time to time.
- The initial tenure of project staff will be for 6/12 months and can be extended further after review of performance/work by Principal Investigator. The total tenure of project staff will be for 5 years.
- The performance of project staff would be reviewed periodically so that candidates not found up to the mark, could be terminated.
- All qualification & experiences must be from Govt./Govt. recognized Institute.
- Empanelment does not provide automatic guarantee of engagement.
- Project staff will be entitled for one day’s leave for each completed month’s service. However, in extra-ordinary circumstances Principal Investigator of the project and/or Director, CSIR-CCMB may provide relaxation in the rules considering the exigency.
- Project staff will be provided OPD medical facilities through CSIR-CCMB dispensary, for self only.

- The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology or CCMB is an Indian biotechnology research establishment located in Hyderabad that operates under the aegis of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. CCMB is a designated “Center of Excellence” by the Global Molecular and Cell Biology Network, UNESCO.The Republic of India’s national biosafety level – 4 containment facility for human infectious diseases is located on the campus of CCMB.
- The center collaborates with the University of Nebraska Medical Center for translational research on glaucoma In addition, the centre receives funding for specific collaborative projects from establishments outside India, such as the National Institutes of Health, Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States, the Imperial Cancer Research Fund and Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, the India-Japan Science Council and the University of Ryukyus in Japan,Centre Nationale de la Recherche Scientifique and the Pasteur Institute in France and the Volkswagen Foundation in Germany.
- CCMB was set up initially as a semi-autonomous Centre on 1 April 1977 with the Biochemistry Division of the then Regional Research Laboratory (presently, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, IICT) in Habsiguda, Hyderabad forming its nucleus and Dr P M Bhargava heading the new Centre. Earlier, the Governing Board of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) New Delhi, the apex body which constituted 44 research institutions in the country, approved the proposal in 1976 to establish such a Centre in view of the importance of research in the frontier and multi-disciplinary areas of modern biology. During 1981-82, the CCMB was accorded the status of a full-fledged national laboratory with its own Executive Committee and Scientific Advisory Council. With major expansion plans, it was decided to relocate the Centre to a spacious campus.
- The Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB) is a premier research organization in frontier areas of modern biology. The objectives of the Centre are to conduct high quality basic research and training in frontier areas of modern biology, and promote centralized national facilities for new and modern techniques in the inter-disciplinary areas of biology.
- To conduct research in frontier and multi-disciplinary areas of modern biology and to seek potential applications of this work.
- To train people in the advanced areas of biology to serve the needs of development in these areas, with special provision for short-term training of staff from other institutions in techniques for which adequate facilities may not exist elsewhere.
- To provide centralized facilities in the country for new and modern techniques in the inter-disciplinary areas of biology, and to ensure that these facilities are so organized, maintained and administered that they can be put to maximal use by research workers from other laboratories and institutions in the country.
- The beautiful and green CCMB campus is located on the inner ring road of Hyderabad, connecting the areas Secunderabad and Uppal. CCMB can be reached very conveniently by the city road transport buses and the new Hyderabad metro at Habsiguda.
