General Instructions:
- Candidates applying for more than one post will have to apply separately for each post.
- Abbreviations used: UR – Unreserved, SC – Scheduled Caste, ST – Scheduled Tribe, OBC – Other Backward Class, PH – Physically Handicapped.
- Applications (3 copies) in prescribed forms to be downloaded from the University Website and are required to be attached with a Bank Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- (application fees shall not be charged in case of candidates belonging to the SC/ST, Rs. 250/- for OBC (A), OBC (B) and physically challenged candidates) drawn in favour of Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University, along with the filled-in prescribed forms. Applications should reach the Office of the Registrar, Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University, Vivekananda Street, Cooch Behar – 736101, West Bengal, India not later than 10.01.2020.
- Persons employed in Government / Semi-government organizations / Autonomous bodies should submit their application through proper channel. They may, however, send an advance copy of the application. Those who are unable to process their application through proper channel may submit a ‘no objection certificate’ from the present employer at the time of the interview. However, they should also submit an undertaking to that effect along with the application form. No direct application from such candidates will be entertained.
- Candidates belonging to the OBC-A and OBC-B categories, whose caste certificate was issued more than one year ago, must produce a ratification certificate from the issuing competent authority that they do not belong to the creamy layer as on date of advertisement along with a copy of the previous certificate. For reservation for OBC, SC, ST the certificates issued by the competent authority within the state of West Bengal shall only be considered valid. Such certificates issued by other states shall not be considered for the purpose of reservation. However such candidates may apply as unreserved candidates.
- The university reserves the right of rejecting any or all the applications without assigning any reason thereof.
- Mere eligibility will not vest any right on any candidate for being called for interview / in any other form of selection process.
- No correspondence from the candidates will be entertained in connection with the process of selection. Canvassing in any form will entail disqualification of candidature.
- Front pages of all the research publications and such other pages containing peer reviewed status / UGC listed status of journals must be provided by the applicant for the post of Assistant Professor. Applicants for the posts of Associate Professor / Professor must provide hard copies of all publications as per instructions in the Academic / Research Score Sheet.
- Incomplete applications, applications without self-attested copies of certificates, applications without the requisite fees, or applications received after the due date are liable to be rejected.
- Candidates must write Advt. No. and “Name of the Post Applied For” on the top of the envelope while sending hard copy of the Academic / Research Score sheet along with supporting documents to the undersigned.

- Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University (CBPBU) is a U.G.C. recognised public university in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, India.The university was named after the 19th-century Rajbangshi leader and social reformist, Panchanan Barma. A total of 15 colleges from Cooch Behar district are affiliated to the university.
- Professor Indrajit Ray, a former teacher of economics of the University of North Bengal, was the first vice-chancellor, while Professor Shubhrangshu Sekhar Chattopadhyay, originally from the Department of Law, University of Calcutta, joined the university as the second vice-chancellor in January 2015. Presently, Prof. Syamal Roy, originally from the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology is officiating as the first permanently appointed vice-chancellor. Dr. Debkumar Mukhopadhyay is the first registrar of Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University.[4] Mr. Nirupom Bhattacharyya is the (acting) Finance Officer.
- The Government of West Bengal established Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University under the West Bengal Act XXI of 2012 and The Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University Act 2012
- The first statutes of the university were approved by the chancellor of the university, the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, in the first week of January 2015, and subsequently printed. On 8 April 2015, the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, granted it ‘2(F)’ affiliation. The first statutes were gazetted at the end of April 2015, while the first Executive Council meeting was held on 22 May 2015.
- The university, which functioned from its camp-office at Central Farmers’ Hostel, Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Pundibari, shifted to its permanent campus on Vivekananda Street, near ‘Krishi Bij Khamar’, Cooch Behar, on 19 August 2015. Before this, through a July 2015 order from the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, 15 general-degree colleges, mostly from the district of Cooch Behar, were initially affiliated to the University.
