- In compliance with :he provisions contained in the ‘Resident Doctor Policy’ notified by the Govt. vide Notification No: HFW-B(B)1-10/2018, dated 22.6.2019 and the Counselling Committee constituted for t to purpose by the Director Medical Education & Research, Himachal Pradesh vide office order I\ ). HFW(DME) —B(2) — 163/2019 Vol- I- dated 1.2.2020, applications for the posts of Senior F osidents/Tutor Specialists are invited from the desirous candidates fulfilling the requisite quali ications and other eligibility conditions on the prescribed application form as per Appendix ‘A’. ‘he posts are available in Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, Dr. R.P. Govt. Medical College , Kangra at Tanda, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Govt. Medical College, Nahan, Sh. Lal Balm( ur Shastri Govt. Medical College, Mandi , Ner Chowk ,Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Govt. Medical Chamba and Dr. Radhakrishnan Govt. Medical College, Hamirpur. The details of avai ibility of vacancies are provided at Appendix-‘B’ of this Notification.
- The last date by whicl- the application should reach in the office of Principal, Indira Gandhi Medical College , Shimla —cum-Member Secretary Counseling Committee complete in all respects alongwith reg 3usite application fee ( Rs. 1500/- for General category and Rs. 1000/- for SC/ ST/OBC cate ,,ory in the shape of demand draft drawn in favour of Principal, IGMC and payable at Shin la is 20.3.2020 up to 5:00 PM beyond which no application shall be entertained. - Recognized MD/MS/DNB in the con .:erned specialty or qualifications as prescribed in the concerned specialty by the existing Him tchal Pradesh Medical Education Service Rules.
- Provided that the percuttage of Tutor-specialists in non clinical subjects from non-medical backgrounds shall not exc !ed the limit prescribed as per the norms fixed by Medical Council of India.
- The appointment will be ordionarily for a period of three years subject to satisfactory yearly performance appraisals which shall 1 e brought to the notice of the Principal by the Concerned Head of Department. The Principal shall intimate the Government if the services of a Senior Resident/Tutor-Specialist need to be its continued in view of non-satisfactory performance. The post occupied by the Senior Reside it/Tutor-Specialist so will fall vacant only if the tenure is completed OR he/she tenders resignation OR his/her services are terminated.
- The GDOs/Direct Candidates who have furnished bond to serve the State after Post Graduation in lieu of sponsorship shall be required to serve a period of minimum one year in field posting before being eligible for Senior Residency in the State and for this purpose the date of submission of applications by the candidate shall be taken as the cut-off date. However, this condition shall not be applicable to direct candidates who have not availed sponsorship of the State while doing Post Graduation an I who are not bound by conditions of any bond.

- Completed application form must be sent by post to the given address along with all relevant documents before 20-03-2020 .Enclosures required with the Form are – Pass certificate and marksheet of Tenth Class, Marksheet of 12th or Intermediate or equivalent, Certificate of Graduation, marksheets of Post Graduation, College Leaving Certificate etc. Experience certificates must be attached properly.

- Himachal Pradesh Medical College at Shimla (HPMC) was established in the year 1966 with admissions of 50 students in the first batch. Indira Gandhi Medical College is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. With the establishment of Medical College in the State, the hopes and aspirations of the people of the state were met with the standards of health services going on and students benefiting with the advantage of staying home and getting better educational avenues. Medical College then had a modest beginning with makeshift arrangements for hostels etc., but ecstasy of joining the Medical College located in Shimla with its salubrious climate, took away the agony., Himachal Pradesh Medical College was renamed Indira Gandhi Medical College (now popularly known as IGMC in abbreviated form) in 1984. Admission facility was increased to 65 in the year 1978. Now MBBS seats have been increased 65 to 100. 2794 number of MBBS students have passed out from this Medical College till 2014. The post Graduate courses were started in 16 disciplines in the year 1981.Now these are increased 16 to 20 disciplines. So far 923 postgraduates and 377 in diploma students have passed out from IGMC till date. More PG courses have been added from the session 2002-2005 in the specialties of Radiotherapy (Oncology) and Skin & VD. Total number of PG Degree seats are 96. DNB in Cardiology and MCH in CTVS have been started by IGMC. 187 B.Sc Paramedical students have passed out till 2014. Now PG courses in the disciplines of Psychiatry and Pulmonary Medicine have been started. 50% seats are available at IGMC through all India Quota from 2005 onwards.15% seats in M.B.B.S. course are available to all India Quota and 2 seats are available to NRI candidates. Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla has also been granted the status of Regional Cancer Center by the Govt. of India, thus providing much needed comprehensive cancer care to the cancer patient. Essential periodical up gradation of facilities for investigations and treatment have been going on regularly and in the year 2005 facility of Open Heart Surgery has been made operational and in 2006 MRI facility has been added. Second Cobalt Unit & 64 slice MDCT are also operational.
- The Department of Radiotherapy & Oncology of this institution is an approved Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) of India.[3][4] It was founded in 1977 as a Tumor Clinic of the hospital and was granted the status of RCC in 2001.
