General Information:
- Candidates are required to apply online on the website http://forest.delhigovt.nic.in. Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned website. The candidates must go through these instructions carefully and follow them.
- The candidate is required to upload a scanned (digital) image of his/her recent photograph (less than 100 KB) and signature (less than 50 KB) after submission of the application form online. In addition, SC/ST/OBC candidates are required to upload the caste certificate issued by the competent authority. No other document needs to be uploaded.
- The applicants are advised to submit only single application for same post; however, if due to any unavoidable situation, if he/she submits another/multiple applications, then he/she must ensure that application with the higher Application Sequence Number (ASN) (i.e. the application which is registered later) is complete in all respects like applicants’ details, photograph, signature etc. The applicants who are submitting multiple applications should note that only the applications with higher Application Sequence Number (ASN) shall be entertained by the Department of Forests & Wildlife. However candidates may apply for multiple posts, subject to eligibility.
- All candidates, whether already in Government service, Government owned industrial Undertakings or other similar organisations or in private employment shall require to submit NOC from their present employer before issue of offer/appointment letter.
- Candidates are not required to submit along with their applications any certificate in support of their claims regarding age, educational qualifications and experience. The candidates applying for the
examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of examination for which they are admitted by the Department of Forests & Wildlife, will be purely provisional subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. If on verification at any time before or
after the online examination and Physical test (as applicable) it is found that they do not fulfill any of the eligibility conditions, their candidature for the examination will be summarily cancelled by the Department of Forests & Wildlife, at any stage of the recruitment. If any of their claims is found to be incorrect, they may render themselves liable to appropriate legal/criminal action by the Department of Forests & Wildlife, as deemed fit. - If the candidate is found ineligible for the said post in accordance with applicable Recruitment rules, framed by the Department even after the issue of this offer of appointment, the same will be stand withdrawn without any notice.
- The appointment done as a result of this direct recruitment notice is purely temporary and is on a provisional basis and is subject to verification of character and antecedents; in case character and
antecedents of the candidate is found not verified or any false information is given by the candidate in self declaration submitted by the candidate, the appointment shall be cancelled forthwith. - The Department of Forests and Wildlife adheres to zero tolerance policy toward any misconduct by any candidate or any persons.

- The Indian Forest Service (IFS) is one of the three All India Services of the Government of India. The other two All India Services being the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS). It was constituted in the year 1966 under the All India Services Act, 1951, by the Government of India.
- The main mandate of the service is the implementation of the National Forest Policy in order to ensure the ecological stability of the country through the protection and participatory sustainable management of natural resources. An IFS officer is wholly independent of the district administration and exercises administrative, judicial and financial powers in his own domain. Positions in state forest department, such as Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Conservator of Forests (CF) and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) etc., are held only by IFS officers. The highest ranking IFS official in each state is the Head of Forest Forces (HoFF).
- Earlier, the British Government in India, had constituted the Imperial Forest Service in 1867 which functioned under the Federal Government until ‘Forestry’ was transferred to the Provincial List by the Government of India Act, 1935, and subsequent recruitment to the Imperial Forest Service was discontinued.
- Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, (MoEFCC) under the Government of India, is the Cadre Controlling Authority of the Indian Forest Service.
