General Instruction:
- Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) is a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways is having its Corporate Office at CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai and Project Head Office at Marble Market Extension, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir. KRCL invites applications for the following fixed term contract posts on fixed remuneration basis for USBRL Project to be operated in the (U.T) of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria will be interviewed. Candidates are advised to check their eligibility
- The candidates must bring with them original certificates, along with 1 set of self attested photocopy in proof of age, caste, educational qualification and experience etc on the date of interview, failing which candidate will not be eligible for interview. Certificate in support of claims for
Ex-servicemen. - Candidate should bring one latest character certificate from Gazetted Officers/Executives Officers for certifying that he is bearing good moral character.
- Incomplete or vague educational qualification will be invalid.
- During the contract period, if any document/ certificate/ information are found incorrect or false in any scrutiny or verification, then the contractual service will be immediately terminated forthwith without assigning any reason and prior notice, besides legal action which may also be initiated.
- The Corporation reserves the right to cancel/ restrict/ curtail/ enlarge the contract engagement process, if need so arises, without any prior notice and without assigning any reasons thereof.
- Selected candidates will be required to execute a bond of Rs. 50,000/- in favour of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited on Rs. 100/- stamp paper to serve the Company for the period specified in the subsequent para below or any further extended period.
- Selected candidate will have to pass prescribed medical examination before the contract is entered into, for fitness to perform the work awarded. The cost of the medical expenses borne by the candidate only.
Selection Process:

- The candidates shall submit only the application (without documents) in the mail id provided on or before the last date i.e. 27/11/2020@18:00hrs. On completion of last date, the application will be scrutinized initially and intimation will be sent to the candidate for interview through mail or phone.
The verification of documents will be done at the location of Interview. The candidates should bring all the original documents. - The eligible candidate will be interviewed by the Committee and the selection will be finalized on merit based on the performance in the interview, qualification and post qualification experience gained by the Candidate.
- For the post of Electrician- All the registered candidates through mail will be first interviewed by the Committee and the shortlist panel will be prepared. The shortlisted candidates will again be called for Trade Test. The shortlisted candidates who are found suitable in the Trade Test will only be engaged subject to found suitable in the prescribed Medical Examination. This is applicable only for the post of Electrician only.
- The decision of the Committee will be final and binding.
- Initially, the contract period will be for a period of 02 years, and extendable on satisfactory performance and with mutual agreement as per the requirement.
- The contractual service is required for USBRL project of KRCL. This is not a regular establishment post.
- The selected candidates will be covered under KRCL’s Special Insurance Scheme for an amount of Rs. 25 lacs while on duty at site in Jammu & Kashmir (U.T) for self only.
- KRCL will pay Rs.350/- per month for STA, JTA, Electrician towards usage of mobile phone.
- Free bachelor accommodation will be arranged at site for selected candidates. Messing allowance of Rs.7000/- per month for STA, JTA, Electrician will be paid.
- KRCL will pay a maximum of Rs. 750/- per month towards Medical Allowance.
- The selected candidate shall be entitled for reimbursement of premium of mediclaim policy to the extent of Rs. 1333/- per month from the recognized insurance company for self and family (Spouse and upto two (02) dependent children declared by contract employee) taken by him. The reimbursement will be made to him on production of original receipt of payment of the premium.
- The Corporation reserves the right to terminate the contract if the contract appointee is found unsuitable, by giving 3 months notice or payment in lieu thereof. Similarly, the appointee will be required to give 3 months notice to KRCL for termination of contract.
- The candidate selected for the above contractual agreement shall not be absorbed in KRCL regular service. The candidate therefore, shall not have right to claim for permanent absorption in KRCL, and shall be required to give an undertaking in writing to KRCL to that effect.
- The selected candidate shall be paid the consolidated remuneration as mentioned herein above and shall not be eligible or entitled to any other benefit or allowance. Further on engagement, he/she should also attend emergencies and other calls of duties, as demanded and expected, during their day to day activities.

- The Konkan is a coastal strip of land bounded by the Sahyadri hills on the east, and Arabian Sea on the west. It is a land where mythology breathes side by side with economic growth,a land with rich mineral resources, dense forest cover and a landscape fringed with paddy, coconut and mango trees. The formidable terrain to be conquered and the short construction period meant that the project could only be completed with the help of several technological innovations. Apart from setting a trend for other infrastructure projects in the country, the Konkan Railway provides concrete proof of the skills of Indian engineers, their discipline, team spirit and courage. But it is also a tribute to the unconquerable human spirit. Beyond the technical jargon, it was a leap of faith that made the long cherished dream of the people of the region possible.
- The Konkan Railway has also in a way changed the lives of the Engineers and otherpeople associated with the project. For them it was the glory of overcoming all odds, and the satisfaction and pride that they have built something for posterity.
- The completion of the Konkan Railway was a “tryst with destiny” for many people in the Konkan region, redeemed in the 50th year of the nation’s Independence. It is hence entirely fitting that the first train on the completed track was flagged off on January 26, 1998, Republic Day.
