General Condition:

  • Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (OPTCL), is one of the largest state owned power utility in the country, engaged in the business of Transmission of electricity in the State invites application from eligible ITI Passed outs for undergoing One (01) year Apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act 1961 as per the following details:
  • Guidelines under Apprentices Act 1961 (Clause 3) and Apprenticeship Rules (Clause 5) on Reservation for SC/ST/SEBC will be followed. Candidates claiming reservation under SC / ST/ SEBC shall provide certificate as per Government standard format, failing which their claim for reservation wll be considered as General category.
  • As prescribed in Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules 1992 (Annexure-1) and amendments thereof any.
  • The candidates will be selected on the basis of marks secured in the ITI in the order of merit subject to satisfactory verification of the documents. The final selection list would be prepared according to categories i.e. General/ SEBC/ SC / ST after conducting documents verification by OPTCL.
  • If the mark sheet provides CGPA, it will be incumbent on the applicant to provide the marks, based on the conversion criteria mentioned in the guidelines issued by the University/ Board/ AICTE as appropriate.
  • If required, the final selection list would be prepared accordingly the categories i.e. General/SEBC/SC/ST after conducting interview and/ or documents verification by OPTCL.
  • Eligible candidates have to register in the online web portal of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) i.e www.apprenticeshipindia.org and get the Registration number.
  • They have to update their profile by uploading SSC, D, Qualification, Category, PWD documents and Aadhar Number etc.
  • In the same portal they have to apply for apprenticeship opportunity in ODISHA POWER TRANSMISSION CORPORATION LIMITED – ODISHA.
  • Procedure for student enrolment and submission of application for ITi candidates may be seen at Annexure -l attached along with this advertisement.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for attending certificate verification.
  • During the period of apprenticeship training, candidates will be governed by the Apprentices Act, 1961 (as amended in 1973 and till date) and the policies/ rules of the organization.
  • Result awaited candidates need not to apply.

  • ODISHA POWER TRANSMISSION CORPORATION LIMITED (OPTCL), one of the largest Transmission Utility in the country was incorporated in March 2004 under the Companies Act, 1956 as a company wholly owned by the Government of Odisha to undertake the business of transmission and wheeling of electricity in the State. The registered office of the Company is situated at Bhubaneswar, the capital of the State of Odisha. Its projects and field units are spread all over the State.
  • OPTCL became fully opeartional with effect from 9th June 2005 consequent upon issue of Odisha Electricity Reform (Transfer of Transmission and Related Activities) Scheme, 2005 under the provisions of Electricity Act, 2003 and the Odisha Reforms Act, 1995 by the State Government for transfer and vesting of transmission related activities of GRIDCO with OPTCL. The Company has been designated as the State Transmission Utility in terms of Section 39 of the Electricity Act, 2003.
  • Presently the Company is carrying on intra state transmission and wheeling of electricity under a license issued by the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission. The Company is also discharging the functions of State Load Despatch Centre. The Company owns Extra High Voltage Transmission system and operates about 14,500.00 ckt kms of transmission lines at 400 kV, 220 kV, 132 kV levels and 163 nos. of substations with transformation capacity of 22,150.00 MVA having 366 nos of transformers.
  • The day-to-day affairs of the Company are managed by the Managing Director assisted by whole-time Functional Directors as per the advice of the Board of Directors constituted. They are in turn assisted by a team of dedicated and experienced professionals in the various fields.
  • Orissa is situated on the eastern coast of India and has a total area of approximately 1,52,200 sq.km constituting about 4.74 percent of India’s landmass. As per 2001 census report, the population of Orissa is 36.8 million and with the prevailing growth rate, it may likely to rise to 45 million in the year 2025. Orissa is rich in minerals having approximately 98% of India’s reserves of Chromites, 70% of Bauxite and 26% of Iron Ore. Orissa having 23% of India’s coal reserve occupies second position in the country, next to Jharkhand. As per estimate of Geological Survey of India, the coal reserve in Orissa during 2005-06 was about 62 billion tonne.
