SELECTION PROCEDURE:
- On the selection day at given time, all applicants must muster/gather in Selection room.
- Designated officers from FP Dept. and Operation divisions of SCI will be present in the selection hall for selecting Petty Officers as per requirement.
- After verification of all documents & selection in interview, candidates will be sent for  medical examination.
- Thereafter, medically fit Machinist Mechanicals will be posted on various multi supports vessels (MSVs), OSVs and Main fleet vessels subject to completion of formalities (verification of documents, port formalities) etc.
- Preference will be given to the candidates who have worked and sailed on vessels having more than 500 GRT for maximum period as Machinist Mechanical & Deck Fitter ( POM).MMs shall be engaged for a period of 06 to 08 weeks onboard MSVs or PSVs, and POMs shall Be engaged for a period of 6 months onboard passenger/ research vessels.
- Preference will be given to MM & Deck fitter who have Six months sailing rank experience Over Trainee MM and Trainee Deck Fitter for selection.
- As per qualification eligibility criteria for selection of Engine Fitter and Deck Fitter is same hence both ranks may be posted on board in any department Deck or Engine  of Main fleet/Offshore vessels as per  requirement of vessels.
- On completion of their article”period, they shall be signed”off.Subsequently,they shall continue to be engaged onboard MSVs, PSVs & passenger/ research vessels purely on a contractual basis, for similar contract periods; however, their engagement subject to vacancies and, it shall be without any obligation on SCI to continue such engagement, neither shall such continual engagement be construed as permanency of employment.
