General Information:
- Applications are invited from eligible candidates to work as a Research Assistant (RA) in Special Call for Research Studies on Social Science Dimensions of COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic sponsored project (ICSSR) at the Humanities and Social Sciences Department, BITS-Pilani, (Pilani campus), Rajasthan.
- COVID-19 has disrupted people’s lives in every possible manner, be it job, working routine, leisure activities, workout, or exercise schedule. Every citizen is now advised to follow social distancing and is confined in the limits of the homes. Anxiety and depression are bound to follow as the information through television, newspaper, social media, and radio is swarming with negativity- incessantly focusing on the number of cases, death tolls, the suffering of people, situation of migrants and workers. In such situations, there is a pressing need to inculcate positive thinking. It can alleviate stress and help people focus on being more productive and hopeful in such challenging times. If people are in a positive mindset, they will be more forthcoming to support the government, medical agencies, and other workers who help mitigate this deadly disease’s effects. This study will identify the communication methods that have the maximum impact in moulding people into a positive mindset. This will allow to select the most efficient method for developing positive thinking and modify the information campaigns best suited to them. The study also aims to discern the transmittal pattern of positive thinking from one person to another, allowing the estimation of the initial amount of the control groups required to spread positive thinking.
- The Research Assistant will get an opportunity to work under the PI Sangeeta Sharma, who has 30 years of experience in research and teaching. She has published 50 journal papers, including publications in Q1 (Scimago) ranked journals.
