General Conditions
- Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the following posts (S.No. 1 to 11) in the prescribed format along with the requisite fee and should reach the office of the undersigned by not later than 15:30 hours on 28.02.2021.
- One post each in HMTS (Dietary) and HMTS (General Others) is reserved for PH Category.
- Detail of the posts, age, qualifications, application form, terms and conditions etc. can be obtained from Institute’s website (www.nitrd.nic.in) / Institute’s notice board.
- Crucial date for determining age limit will be the closing date of receipt of applications.
- The appointment will be governed by the standard terms and conditions as per the Institute rules applicable from time to time.
- NITRD reserves the right to fix criteria for calling the required number of candidates, as may be
necessary, for written test/interview. - The prescribed essential qualifications as above are bare minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle a candidate to be called for written test/interview.
- NITRD reserves the right to fill or not to fill the posts mentioned above without assigning any reason(s).
- No. of posts can be increased or decreased by the Competent Authority.
- Incomplete applications or those not on the prescribed proforma shall be summarily rejected.
- The candidate already in Govt. Service should send his/her application through proper channel, or submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their present employer with their application.
- Candidates are required to enclose self-attested Photostat copies of all certificates in support of their qualifications and experience.
- Applicants should affix recently taken self-attested passport size photograph on the application.
- The completed application form should be accompanied by requisite non-refundable fee (Rs. 100/- only for Group A post and Rs. 50/- for Group C posts) in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Director, National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases” payable at New
Delhi. There is no fees for SC/ST/PH/EWS & Woman candidates. - Completed application form should be sent to Director, National Institute of TB & Respiratory Diseases, Sri Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi-110030 on or before the last date.
- Applications received after the last date will not be considered.
- In case of casual labour working in Institute to be appointed as Hospital Multi Tasking Staff is non-matriculate, he/she shall be given training before he/she is appointed.
- Qualification(s) is/are relaxable at the discretion of the selection committee in case of candidates otherwise found fit.
- Age is relaxable by five years for SC/ST, three years for OBC candidates and 10 years for Physically Handicapped and 5 years for Government servant as per Govt. of India instructions.

- The National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (NITRD) started from humble beginnings as a TB Hospital in 1956. Formerly referred to as Lala Ram Swarup hospital, our center is now an important part of the healthcare landscape of the Nation. We provide dedicated comprehensive services to every patient with chest symptoms.
- We have a 470 bedded hospital, which also houses the internationally renowned Dr. R.C. Jain Thoracic Surgery Centre and Dhanwantry Intensive care Unit.Our Thoracic Surgery department is one of its kind in the country with patients being referred not only from across the nation but also from neighboring countries. The department is engaged in the most complex surgeries with excellent outcomes. The Intensive care unit is state of the art with an esteemed and dedicated team managing critical medical and surgical patients to full recovery. In addition to the general ward, the Institute has the most advanced negative pressure ward (for MDR-TB patients) and a 40-bedded private ward. Nearly 50,000 patients receive emergency care, 7000 patients are admitted every year with 600 surgeries being performed annuallyat the institute.
- The Out-Patient Department gets an average daily attendance of 800 patients suffering from ailments liketuberculosis, respiratory diseases, post tuberculosis sequelae, empyema, lung cancer, HIV, sleep disorders, allergic disorders and tobacco addiction. These patients are givenadvise on the best possible management at par with international standards. The Institute also provides outreach facilities for diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis at the door step of the patients through the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP).
- The Institute has been recognized as a Centre of Excellence by the WHO under its Tuberculosis Supranational Reference Laboratory Network. Our Microbiology department has BSL-III facility and is a National Reference Laboratory under the RNTCP. The Pathology and Biochemistry laboratories as well as Radiology department have the latest equipment and fully trained personnel ensuring seamless services.The Institute conducts high quality research in the field of tuberculosis, respiratory diseases, thoracic surgery and allied specialties. The research publications from the Institute have been published in reputed indexed peer reviewed national and international journals and cited by several authors.
- We are a major teaching institution and impart postgraduate teaching in Respiratory Diseases, Microbiology and Super Specialty Thoracic Surgery accredited by the National Board of Examinations. Our students have not only performed brilliantly in academic and clinical responsibilities but have also been instrumental in establishing centers of repute in various parts of the Nation. The Institute has a dedicated training division and conducts diverse kinds of training courses. We have trained around 17000 state and district trainers for RNTCP alone over the past two decades. Recently, the Institute has been given status of ‘WHO Collaborating Center for TB Training’ and has expanded training to South East Asia region countries.
