General Information:
- Application in prescribed form accompanied by attested copies of Mark Sheets and Certificates of Educational Qualifications from HSLC onwards are hereby invited from bona fide citizens of India for the following posts at Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) at Ngopa, Lawngtlai, Chawngte & Tuipang.
- For the post of Nurse & IV Grade (Watchmen), one post each is hereby invited for Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) at Ngopa, Lawngtlai, Chawngte, Tuipang, Lunglei and Serchhip.
- A candidate must possess basic knowledge of Computer Application equivalent to Course on Computer Concepts (CCC) of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) or Diploma in Computer Application/ Certificate in Computer Application from institution recognized by Mizoram State Council of Technical Education or such other courses of the level.
- The Candidate for the post of Teacher and others applicants should not be less than 21 years and not more than 35 years, relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates as on 01.03.2020. Application Form could be had from the Directorate of Social Welfare, Laipuitlang on payment of Rs.20.00 (Rupees twenty) only.
- Applications complete in all respects should be submitted to the Director, Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs Department, Chaltlang, Aizawl on or before 4th March, 2020. Applications submitted after fixed date shall not be entertained in any case. Incomplete applications shall be rejected. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the applicants/candidates. All other things being equal, candidates having experience in the line will be given preference.

- Social Welfare was created as a small wing under Education Department during 1973 – 74 with one State Social Welfare Officer, one District Social Welfare Officer and a skeleton supporting staff. During 1974-75, the Social Welfare Wing was strengthened by posting one Programe Officer. This was further strengthened by creating two more posts of District Social Welfare Officers with minimum supporting staff for Lunglei and Chhimtuipui Districts during 1979 – 80. Today, as many as 576 staff belonging to different grades are working in the Department, covering the whole of Mizoram. The Department of Social Welfare has been taking up various schemes for the upliftment of women and children, handicapped persons, old age persons, management of correctional institutions and social defense, strengthening of voluntary organizations and development of rural infrastructure.
- There is a provision under the Article 275 (1) of the Constitutions for improvement of rural infrastructure in tribal areas. The State Govt. had opted the schemes since 2003 – 2004 through this Department (Social Welfare Department). Certain infrastructures are being improved now and more proposals are moved to the Govt. of India for approval in the current financial year. Under the scheme, the Department takes up various programmes like construction of Tribal Art Center, Market Shed, Approach road, Culvert, Retaining wall, Anganwadi Centre building, Community Hall, Waiting shed for Farmers, Fish pond, Suspension bridges etc. and other public assets for the upliftment and development of the Tribal people.
- The scheme of EKLAVYA Model Residential School previously taken up by School Education Deptt. had now been handed over to the Deptt. of Social Welfare under this programme, Model Residential school has been established at Pukpui, Lunglei exclusively for Tribal students. This is funded 100% by Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India.
