General Instruction:
- Candidates belonging to General Category born before 30/09/1984, the candidates belonging to Reserved Category (SC/ST/SEBC) as well as Physically Disabled Persons [Orthopedically (Locomotor)] (PH) and Ex-Servicemen, born before 30/09/1981 shall not be eligible to apply.
- The Candidates who have successfully submitted Online Applications shall only be eligible for appearing at the Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test).
- The decision of the High Court as to the eligibility or otherwise of a candidate for admission to the Preliminary Examination, Main Written Examination and/or Viva-voce Test shall be final. No candidate, to whom the respective ‘e-Call-Letter-cum-Admission Slip’ has not been issued by the Recruiting Authority, shall be admitted for the Examination.
- The Candidates shall have to appear at their own expenses for the Preliminary Examination / Main Written Examination and Vivavoce Test, if called for, at the place and time that may be decided by the High Court.
- Benefit of reservation shall be granted to the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Socially & Educationally Backward Classes provided that the respective Certificate(s) in respect of eligibility to such Reservation as well as ‘Non-creamylayer’ Certificate, valid for Current Financial Year (in case of SEBC candidates), issued by the Competent Authority of the State of Gujarat, is produced by the candidate, as and when called for.
- Benefit of relaxation in the Upper-Age limit & Fees, shall be granted to the Physically Disabled Persons [Orthopedically(Locomotor)] (PH), provided that Certificate in respect of the Disability, issued by the Competent Authority of the State, is produced by the candidate, as and when called for, whereas, relaxation in Upper Age limit shall be granted to the Ex-Servicemen, provided Certificate / Identity Card in that respect, is produced by the Candidate as and when called for.

- The list of eligible candidates will be placed on High Court website as well as on HC-OJAS portal of NIC, at the relevant time.
- Candidates are advised to keep on checking the High Court – OJAS Website for the updates.
- Candidate shall be required to download his/her ‘e-Call-Lettercum-Admission-slip’ from the High Court Website or HC-OJAS Portal of NIC, by using his/her Application No., Confirmation No. and Date of Birth, for appearing at the respective Examination/ Viva-voce, during the specified period.
- Entry in the Compound of the Examination Centre with Mobile/Cell Phones, Tablets, Laptop, Electronic Gadgets etc., is strictly prohibited. A Candidate who is found breaching the abovesaid direction or found to be indulging in ‘unfair practices’, viz. copying or misconduct during the course of examination, using electronic gadgets or Mobile Phones, etc., tampering with Question and/or Answer Paper, influencing any person concerned with the Elimination Test or Written Examination or Viva-voce Test, will be debarred from appearing for Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) or Main Written Examination or Viva-voce Test, as the case may be, for that Examination Process or for any number of years or permanently, as may be decided by the High Court.
- Candidate should obtain requisite Language Certificate and Practice / Experience Certificate from the Competent Authority after publication of result of Main Written Examination.

- The Gujarat High Court is the High Court of the state of Gujarat. It was established on 1 May 1960 under the Bombay State Re-organisation Act, 1960 after the state of Gujarat split from Bombay State.
- The seat of the court is Ahmedabad. The present strength of the Gujarat High court is 28 against sanctioned strength of 52.
- This high court was established on 1 May 1960 as a result of bifurcation of the former State of Bombay into two States of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The High Court started functioning near Akashwani, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad. The High Court has later shifted to the new building at Sola, Ahmedabad, from 16 January 1999.
- The Gujarat High Court has jurisdiction over the entire state of Gujarat. It has jurisdiction on all district, administrative and other courts in Gujarat. This high court is a Court of record and empowered to punish anyone for contempt of court.
- Unlike Union Judiciary, the state judiciary possesses wide powers which includes powers such as Appellate, Second Appellate in some cases, Revisionary, Review etc. It also has power to issue various writs to courts and authority under its jurisdiction. Intra-Court appeals, when permissible under Clause – 15 of Letters Patent, also lie within the same court from decision of a Single Judge to a Division Bench which comprises two Judges. It has power of superintendence on all courts under it under Article 227 of the Constitution of India. The High Courts are also empowered to hear Public Interest Litigations.
- All judges of the high court are appointed by the President of India after consulting the Governor of Gujarat, Chief Justice of India and Chief Justice of Gujarat. They hold constitutional post and there are ample safeguards provided in the constitution to ensure the independence of the judiciary. Any judge can resign by writing to the President of India. Terms of appointment of judges cannot be altered to their disadvantage after their appointment.
