General Instruction:
- TISS is a centrally funded public university which operates from four campuses located in Mumbai and Tuljapur in Maharashtra, Guwahati and Hyderabad; and has expanded its education, training, research and outreach activities in several other states as well.
- Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the post of Field Investigator to work on the following project in Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad Campus under a grant sponsored by Azim Premji Research Foundation, Bengaluru.
- Working with Investigators of the project towards identification of respondents and collection of primary data from the field. Further participation in literature review and writing towards academic and non-academic outputs can be negotiated as per interest and suitability.
- Interested applicants must submit a CV (maximum of two pages), one-page cover letter by February 21, 2021 to apu_project21@gmail.com. Only shortlisted candidates will receive emails for selection interview and will be notified through email by 23rd February, 2021. Candidates are advised to send one set of scanned copies of academic records with their CVs.
- The Institute reserves the right to relax qualification of the candidate based on the work experience.
- The Institute reserves the right to cancel the recruitment without assigning any reason.
- The institute reserves the right to invite persons for interview who may not have applied for as per the above procedure and not fill up the vacancy advertised.
- Since applications received may be short listed, merely possessing the prescribed qualifications and the requisite experience would not entitle a person to be called for interview.
- No queries or correspondence regarding issue of call letter for online interview / selection of candidates for the post will be entertained at any stage and canvassing in any form is strictly prohibited and will lead to the candidate being debarred from consideration for the post.
- The position is temporary and the appointment is subject to: (1) satisfactory appraisal every month; (2) disbursal of APRF fund.
- The eligible candidates will be communicated by e-mail to appear for the online interview. The online interview will be held between 24th to 26th February 2021 and selected candidate is expected to join from March 1, 2021.

- The International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS) have established an on-line Certificate Course on Disaster Management. This initiative is in line with IFRC’s Strategy 2020, Strategic Aim 1: “Save lives, protect livelihoods, and strengthen recovery from disasters and crises” and TISS’s commitment to excellence in disaster management education. The programme provides an on line learning platform through the blend of academic excellence and practical experiences . It reaches individuals from various backgrounds. Having a diverse set of participants across the globe, the course aims to bridge the gap between theoretical approach to emergency management and practical approach to reduce vulnerabilities and building resilience. It is of 22 credits and broadly covers 8 modules over a period of 12 months. The assessment method includes assignments, quiz and discussion forum. - The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was declared Deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956.
